Get Rid Of The Ridiculous Profanity Filter In Creators Club

Well, anyone with a surname that rhymes with toilet would behave the way she did.

As for Stopper and Locomotive, I can’t even find the swear words in them.

 

Me neither, it is totally baffling. Maybe it is just another bug!

Scunthorpe problem, Really? Scunthorpe has never been a problem to me it seems like a 'you' problem to me.

 

This is where the fun part begins, as CC is acessible in many countrys, of course it doesnt filter english words only, otherwise i could write a description full of german swear words and trust me i know a lot.

Loco is literally translated as "crazy" in spanish, but it can have a negative and even offensive meaning in slang:
If you call someone "loco", it substitutes for "idiot, jerk"

You learn something new every day

 

In England, one English word could have several different meanings and then mean something else in different parts of the country. Your definition of 'Loco' is the same here as well but can also mean a 'train' too. I'm sure the US and Australia and other countries have their different meanings as well but if DTG's intention is to put an oppressive filter on English it will become near impossible to use.

As has been said already all DTG have to do is when they review each creation is to look at the title to see if it is appropriate. Not this draconian measure which makes DTG look foolish and unprofessional imo.

 

Don’t name your scenarios after birds then. Tits, cocks, choughs, thrush and boobies are all out.

 

Don’t forget the shag.

The Scunthorpe problem came about many years back when a few US based websites started blocking signups from people living in Scunthorpe (hence the name) and Penistone because the towns contain a rude word - Filters have improved somewhat so I'm guessing DTG's is either misfiring or needs training a bit more.

 

if their filter is anything decent then surely 'allowed words' could be added. It seems DTG is adding un-necessary work for themselves if they have to vet the work in the first place.

 

This profanity filter is the dumbest thing ever. I'm about to throw my hands up and just forget about making content all together. Creation is supposed to be relaxing but this idiotic feature has made it frustrating. Get rid of it!

Update 07/13: I managed to put in the description for the Harlem Morning Express scenario. I had to substitute Amtrak too "Antrak" because Amtrak is a bad word according to the profanity filter... Yeah 2+2 = 5.
If the developers don't see this as pure stupidty then I don't know what stupid is anymore.

 

i'd guess it's not that amtrak is a sweary word... more like you need to pay a yearly fee to licence it,

imagine a world like that, a voice recognition device monitors everything you say, and at the end of the year you get a bill for all the copyrighted and licenced words you used.... we're halfway there with the device that listens into everything we say tho, only atm it's used to tailor the adverts we get instead.

Banning words like "Class" and "Passenger" in a rail sim is on a similar level to the palaeontology conference where the automatic filters kept flagging up any time a presentation included words on the list, and woe betide the palaeontologist who found a fossilised pubic bone in a stream bed..

 

Sorry if this was already mentioned.
But does the filter do not even work, if you write the username of the person who make the Livery or Scenario?
At least in order it shows all the ones created, and can select from them.
I mean in this case of the really great Scenarios by Tom, to write Tomfresco#3165, and shows all he has created?

 

I definitely think that the system needs reworking. Maybe not removal but in its current form it's a bit like talking to a brick wall. An absolutely braindead system.

 

Unfortunatly you cant look for creators in CC by Default, but all my scenarios and the one Repaint have a (TF) in the title. So if you search (TF) via the normal search function, you can find all of my work. Others have a specific Tag in their titles too, that makes it possible to look for things from one Person specifically without needing to find one entry of them at First.

 

On scenario designer and livery editor you do not need any filtering, they are for personal use only. So only for creators club it makes sense. For me it took a long time to understand why passenger is a forbidden word. It is very poor filter design.

And, no nothing is changed, from day 1 it works like this.

At least on the web, not on the game itself.
But may be this can be useful and easier to do it on it.

First go to:

Then - for example - you like and select the ROYAL MAIL CLASS 377.
Click on it

This page will appears, fot that train.



But please notice the upright rectangle I draw on the image.

It says "User xxx has uploaded xx items".
Right to them it indicates "VIEW"!

You press it, then you see all the add-ons, GREYWUASEL uploaded to Creator's Club.


Of course I cut the image, in order not to be so big for this forum.

SPECIAL NOTE: At the beginning a message indicating "GREYWUASEL HAS NO MODS"
But after some seconds all of them appeared!

Looking at the address above, if you change for your desired "author", you get it!

So in your case Tom, I did it, and this appeared



You must change the "#" for the "-"

Of course you can not go directly to the sim from here.
May be on PC yes.
I am a PS4 user, so in consoles I do not think so.

So at least I hope this procedure will be useful for most TSW2 people!

The website limits you to viewing only a single page of the most recently uploaded content from a user. It is frustrating. The best place to look is in-game where you can browse a user's entire collection, though I have lots of issues with the game getting stuck "Downloading..." something ad infinitum.

From my limited experience with Forum Admin and swear filters it is such an easy fix I wonder why DTG are making it so complicated? Also why do they need a filter in the first place? I thought every creation has to be reviewed anyway so it didn't affect any of DTG laws? So is it too much to actually look at the title as well?

 

I’ve just had a similar experience with the local Plymouth Herald newspaper web site. I wrote a comment after a news story only to get a message that it had been “de-activated” because I had breached the community guidelines. Now, the only thing I could think of was that I had used the term Plymouth Hoe. Sure enough, I removed the term and my comment was accepted.

Notwithstanding, the word Hoe is not generally a profanity in the UK and this is a very local paper, I can’t believe that you can have a website devoted to Plymouth where you can’t use the name Plymouth Hoe. Francis Drake would be turning in his grave if he wasn’t buried at sea.

It probably explains why the Plymouth Herald doesn’t have a gardening column.

If they are worried about young people learning words they shouldn't they are a bit late for that, judging by the language of the students I hear on the train in the morning! Some of it would make Lee Evans blush.

 

Forgot using "Kassel" in your name, because it contains "a$$", because it CONTAINS it, but, you can spell Night! Because that couldn't contain ANY slurs /s. Stupid.

 

Just tested turns out you can also use a Jewish slur as well.

 

As soon as certain groups get offended DTG are all over it but the rest of us can go hang. I'm not saying they should not be addressed but people were complaining about this nonsense ages ago.

They probably use the filter so they have less what needs sorting by workers.

the filter needs reform, things taken off it, definitely not put more on though.

 

Many of the train related words and descriptions used in the games various texts and information screens contain many of these so called offensive words.So is DTG being overwhelmed by messages from those who are offended whenever for example the word passenger or passengers shows up for example.Just what old 1500's UK era law maker came up with this list of offensive words.

 

It's a Scunthorpe Problem. It's not really to do with what's banned, it's to do with what that drags down with it.

 

This is becoming more and more ridiculous. Great new world, anybody can feel offended by anything, anywhere, anytime. The responsables for setting up those filters can´t even follow common sense anymore. The MerdeStorm will be triggered at any moment.

I'm sure many would like to express there true thoughts on the offensive word filter BUT if they did JD's fingers would be worn out in no time.What is truly amazing is with the laundry list of TSW4 in game issues is that this is a issue that none of us need to be one.
