How do you to set the ACSES out of start program so it is not constantly in restricted mode? I am stuck at 20 and this is not appropriate for the WTT. I have waited for signals but this has not worked, I have restarted but it has not worked and tried the normal PZB buttons but none have any function. How do you get it to normal speed modes?

This can happen, as it did to me, if you inadvertently put the brakes into emergency. The ATC will never come out of restricted mode.

Is it supposed to be on only one of the two systems, ATC only or ACSES only? I have had problems with the systems on the LGV conflicting and causing random brake applications but there seems to be no answer to the correct way to use any of them on that route.

Both. ATC supervises signalling speed restrictions, ACSES track speed restrictions.

I have restarted multiple times and not used EB but the speed limit is remaining at 20. How do you make any trips on time running at 20 despite clear top signals? My last attempt ran over 1 hour late which would not be ok IRL.

This can happen when as Sharon E mentioned you go into emergency by accident, but it also happens if you roll back on start or apply power in the wrong direction anytime. This is most prevalent when leaving Providence. It should not happen. Unfortunately once it happens you're stuck with it until the next ATC or ACSES event resets it.

If you want more information on ATC and ACSES I made a detailed tutorial for them

I was on a service heading towards Boston from Providence, but all the way to the next stop 30 miles away passing multiple signals but it did not change out of 20. Is the emergency brake supervisory affected by the emergency position on the main brake handle or just passcom triggered brake applications?

Any emergency application will make it happen. It usually only happens if you do it before you move the train but can occasionally happen and not reset at other times. Sadly best thing you can do is either restart the service or shut off the safety systems and ignore it.

Would it normally be permitted to run at 79mph (as with non-ICS North American routes) with the ATC/ACSES off or with just the ATC or just ACSES? Maybe even with another staff member in the leading cab. What are the rules for operating in the event of ICS equipment failures?

If you ran at 79mph without ACSES and ATCS working on a route like Boston you would run into the back of another train in short order because the signals will allow multiple trains into each signalling block knowing that the safety systems are keeping you at a speed where you can safely stop short of the train in front.

I could not find anything concrete but I would expect you'd need permission from the dispatcher to move at all and they would likely guide you. Disabling safety systems in game is easy, in real life you normally would have to break a seal on a switch or valve to allow you to do it and breaking that seal would come with a wealth of paperwork to do.
