Get ready to travel in Midlands territory with Just Trains’ latest add-on, Midland Main Line! Coming Soon to Train Simulator Classic!
Yes, and why is there no accompanying article with it or at least a description with which bits of the MML are included?
Won't this be one of the extensions to MML coming to Steam which currently only available through Just Trains themselves? There's usually a gap between the release on the JT site and when it becomes available through Steam.
No, they don't but the scenarios for MML by JT use default stock available through Steam for the versions of their routes sold on Steam. I believe that those scenarios only use stock contained within the European assets pack.
Yes, that's how they always did. Either release stock with the route, or use the ELAP for the Steam version and for their download version you have to purchase their stock and AP's for the scenarios.
This really does show how desperately needed an update to the standard UK assets pack is. I'd be embarrassed to sell anything with those Kuju units. Fans of reality are reminded that the JT website release may be worth a comparison as it may be better value and use more modern rolling stock.
Aren't there a lot of freeware/payware upgrades for the Kuju stock already available (aside from the 166)? The pack is a legacy item and will not be changed.
Nope, they have never operated in the Midlands, or, North of England on a daily basis, nor the 165s, either. I am not sure if that picture actually depicts the Hope Valley as both trains are decked out in First Group ''Barbie'' livery, they never operated in the East Midlands to my knowledge. Of course, it's your route once you buy it, and can drive any locomotive/multiple unit on it you like to your heart's delight, with a bit of imagination, you can put some Scotrail trains on it for a bit of fun..... Cheerz. Steve.
Hmmm, but, this section hasn't even been completed yet, it's still being built. JT won't put it straight on to the Steam website will they, I'd have thought they'd sell it on their own website for the first 6/12 months, like all of their other route offerings. Cheerz. Steve.
So as Sheffield-Derby and Leicester-Derby&Nottingham are already on Steam, this would leave Nottingham - Lincoln Erewash Valley Derwent Valley Line Barrow Hill Roundhouse Extension as release candidates. So let's wait what DTG will reveal to us.
In that case, the remaining big section is Nottingham to Lincoln. However, they're all stand alone routes currently on Steam as opposed to the option of it being a complete single route if you buy direct from Just Trains. Unless DTG have struck a deal for the complete route.
Would it be possible to merge the midland mainline routes (3 routes - including this one and the 2 routes already on steam) and upload it on steam workshop, like the way DTG's South Wales was merged with Bossman's Welsh Marches?
I did that to two of the routes but got a lot of hostility from parts of the community, so I had to remove them ( I also had permission from Just Trains too) at least the two routes that were on there.
I do not understand - why would anyone have a problem with what's on the workshop? Take it or leave it.
I was getting really nasty comments about (as in nasty ones pretty much saying "I'm not allowed to do this", "Just trains can only do this" and worse, so i just thought why am I bothering). Equally I think i probably upset Just trains in the process so sadly I don't think i can put it up again.
Could see that the developer is Just Trains and Publisher is DTG. As you mentioned that you had permission from the developer, why would there be hostility. Even if there is hostility (don't understand why there is) it's definitely a take it or leave it as rightly quoted above. Danny, would it be possible to reupload the merged route again for us. Also would you merge the 3rd route that's about to release, as you have the developer's permission.
I mean its the same routes sold as extensions or standalone. As both are pay ware, not sure why someone would display hostility.
Because they had them via just trains so didn't see the point of me putting it on workshop (not all the comments were like that)
This sounds similar to the right to repair. If we paid for 2 products, aren't we allowed to merge the 2 two products we paid for irrespective of whether its available elsewhere. Just a thought.
On Steam it will most likely be a stand alone route. Both options are available through Just Trains, stand alone and extension. Just Trains also update the routes now and then. Not regularly, but more frequently than DTG tend to.
Most likely so. The JT common library can be updated for the steam version in case of updates like they did for Southwestern expressways.
That's a real shame. I own both the JT MML routes on Steam having had major issues with the JT installer on my laptop in the past, hence why I didn't buy them from JT direct. I was not aware you had done a merge. Would you consider putting it back up? Alternatively, the trackwork is already present all the way from Leicester to Nottingham/Sheffield in both stand-alones so not sure if there is a way I could port the scenery over myself to have one route in game with everything?
If the case is that we can get the scenery in a single DLC by copy pasting some files from one DLC to another, even if the steps are provided in the forum here, we would do it ourselves. If anything goes wrong we can always reinstall that DLC from steam.
I would really be pleased if you could merge Nottingham-Lincoln with Sheffield-Derby and Leicester-Derby-Nottingham and upload it again with JT's permission for everyone who got the Steam version. The DTG community will deal with the Steam community, don't worry... Really
Very true, the merge will help in opening up lot of scenario possibilities which will be seamless without loading the scenarios split between the routes. I bought 2 of the MML routes on sale, and it is quite detailed (i've even created a workshop scenario link below), making the merge more compelling and even better. I think one way out is. for all the default scenarios DTG/JT provided, we can swap the Kuju HST with Class 222, and Kuju 166 with the Class 158,156 in Midland livery from superalbs and DPSimulations. Also can be swapped with the Class 170. This should hopefully make it realistic. When Just Trains gave a reskin of the class 68 for the Chiltern mainline, they could have given a reskin of midland / EMR (branded/unbranded) using the 156 and 158 addons on steam. Missed opportunity. Thankfully, DPS and superalbs covers it.
you can swap any stock you want there are programs freely available that allow you to do that yourself.
I would appreciete this as well it is such a shame that a small minority of this community have to ruin it for everyone else because they have to voice there opinions and be heard over everyone else. Danny does this in his own free time for the sake of the community and people cause him to remove it i am speechless!
Just waiting for JT’s Hope Valley to be released. Somewhere before the end of August, I would imagine. Also looking forward to hearing what route JTs are working on for TSW2.
Nottingham - Lincoln is a great route and perfect candidate for TSW2 imho. Great opportunity for the 156 to be brought over as well
Really enjoying they route myself. What I enjoy about JT routes is the detail they put in really nice
Once Hope Valley is released, it could be merged with DTG's Liverpool to Manchester and its possible to drive the EMR Liverpool Lime Street to Norwich service up to Nottingham from Liverpool.
