So tonight I was having a look at the preservation update to NTP and I found something interesting that I'd never seen before. Whilst I was stood looking around Huddersfield at 19:55 a 6 car, yes 6 car, BR class 101 service passed (3x 2 car units) through platform 1 heading towards Manchester. There’s a 6-car special service (Stalybridge to Leeds) in the timetable and then an AI only return journey back to Stalybridge (that you used to be able to steal from Leeds and drive yourself but can’t now as far as I know).
There is now an 1830 Saturday Special (Return) service showing in the timetable (checked on PC). The timings suggest it is an AI ECS back towards Manchester of the stock from that service.
