I Been using VR for a while and I think that Train Simulator would really benefit with all locos already made with fully animated controls. It would improve the immersion since most VR headsets come with a set of controllers that allow the user to reach out and touch objects and the headset it self will give a proper drivers view from the locomotive. Just something that i think might improve the gameplay.

It already uses Oculus, but VR sounds like a cool idea.

The only thing I can that would be hard to implement would be changing points and decoupling unless there is some way of bringing up a separate menu just for VR.

I am going the oposite direction... an AR simulator... actual reality... using real controls from a train connected to the sim

I've relatively recently got Trackir - I had some doubts. Perhaps a half-way house to VR but it's far better than I anticipated.

TrackIr is great, i use it on my Omsi simulator, really adds to the total immersion that i'm after,

of course i have the trackir sensors fitted to a real BVG drivers hat.. most people make do with a baseball hat or earphone clip for the sensors, but i don't do things by halves

I'm envious. Afraid I'll have to settle with my RailDriver. Just don't have the room for an AR setup nor the means to build one. My desktop has to accommodate a throttle & yoke for my flight sim also.

So how do you control a train that has separate power and brake handles with that S-Bahn Desk?

i have a saitek throttle quadrant i stuck on the right hand side :)

when i built that driving desk i was in a phase of driving mostly EMU's with the combined power / brake lever,

i plan to build another mini driving desk sometime, and it will have 4 lever sets with unscrewable handles except for the power lever.

So you will use the DB Cab to drive a Class 66?

If you change the playing conditions then older items would not work properly and more people would be inconvenienced than those who gain from it.
It would make more sense to have VR in TSW - it's not far off that now as you can move around, leave the train and do other things you cannot in Train Simulator.

I don't think it's possible, because some things relay on fixed camera position. For example there is a baked reflection in BR 442.
