With all the hoo ha here lately, open letters, qa threads, suggestions threads there is a couple of common themes I’ve noticed creeping through.

Communication and questions not being answered.

I wonder whether as part of the comms strategies there should either be an open thread or subject specific thread whereby questions are asked and visible and DTG are proving in same thread active responses. Initially I’d envisage high volume but it would introduce accountability to customer base, also community transparency, trust, inclusion and engagement.

Alternatively carry on as we have with the question threads before a stream but trying to chip through more questions rather than cherry picking the marketing material ones.

How do you think this could this be improved?

I wouldn't say no to more dedicated Q&A streams. I like the roadmap streams but it always seems that talking about the roadmap portions takes up more time than they expect so there's only really time for a handful of questions at the end.

The problem with pinned or sticky threads is if you start having too many, the “live” discussion threads end up starting 2/3 way down the page.

One doesn't need a dedicated Q&A topic to have questions, that DTG can answer. They created this whole forum, and they have community managers to manage... well... the community, including any questions we post anywhere on their forum.

Which is an ideal opportunity for questions to disappear into the ether…

IMHO it is easier to find questions and answers in their own thread than having a single thread full of q&a with different topics.

Yeah, I agree. A single thread might be useful for compiling questions but in terms of finding the answers it would be a nightmare

To me it should either be the mods finding some way to update against someone's question but locking that post or time stamping, watermarking or whatever so we know it's genuine

The question would be "What sort of questions should be on the Q&A thread?" because just about every Q&A session or thread I've ever seen anywhere generally devolves into three broad things
    1. when is my specific bug being fixed (ie the fix will be on my machine and playable and not break anything else)
    2. when is the next DLC being released, what is it and why didn't you make my suggestion
    3. why haven't you addressed my specific query that I put on the forum in a comment on a thread, page 3, 5th answer from the bottom (and I didn't tag you in it, but you read every response, right?)
So outside of those usual same questions, what would this Q&A thread be for?

    Q&A thread…

When will multiplayer come to TSW?
When are you going to fix the lights on such and such a train?
When’s the next xbox sale going to be?
What happened to the version 2 of scenario planner?
    Do you actually read suggestions?
Can you make a Japanese route this year?
Will LIRR get a bigger timetable?
You need to extend GWE to Oxford.
    Are you developing for UE5?
Why do you let Rivet get away with everything they do wrong?
Can I transfer my DLC from xbox to PC?
    What’s your favourite train?
Why haven’t you answered any of the questions I posted?
    DTG are lazy
What is TSW2 anyway? It’s an arcade game isn’t it? Go on, admit it.
    Where’s my nurse?
    When’s the next quiz?
Will TSW run on my computer? I have a Spandex 2050 i9 24-core processor overclocked to 8 Gigglyhurts, a PowerBlaster 666XXX electricity substation sized water cooled 8D enabled graphics card, and 128 Ryan Giggs of RAM. Running Windows 95.
No really, where is my nurse? It’s happening again.

It would look like this on day one, plus the community would chip in with answers before DTG get a chance to respond that if it isn’t on the roadmap it isn’t happening and it would be a right mess in no time. So no.

Let me get this straight. You're proposing that a new forum or thread be introduced in which players ask questions and DTG ( or its partners ) give immediate or timely answers to those questions?

With all due respect: Are you serious?

The forums have been replete for several years with questions which have never received answers, either because DTG ( and its partners ) are unwilling to go where angels fear to tread or because they simply don't have satisfactory answers to those questions.

If this " thread " ever materializes, I'll eat my Raildriver.

Don't really see the point. DTG is really absent on this forum, they wouldn't answer to a Q&A topic either.

The lack of reply to,questions is my exact rationale for the proposal. How many questions have been buried and ignored into the “we listen to the community bin”…… we listen means , we fix what benefits DTG.

100% valid about what questions make it into thread, it’d be inundated, that however would be indicative of how much goes unanswered.

It would invalidate having the forum. Might as well shut it down and have a message board like discord instead

Don't mean to disparage your thinking, chieflongshin, but the circular file is already overflowing with questions at DTG HQ. Any further influx might block the Medway and cause flooding in the nearby towns.

Seriously, though, I and others, including yourself, have unanswered questions going back many moons. There's no reason to think that asking them in a new thread would bear any fresh responses.

Don't we have the forums for a reason...

I don't see the point of this. Alot of questions go unanswered. I don't think a "dedicated" thread would change that

Depends on what he reason is (which would be a case of who's asking)
From my point of view this forum is so that the community can discuss the game and it's DLC rather than being a direct line to DTG and it's devs, but many people seem to think that DTG should be responding to everything on here like a support chat function

Well DTG do sometimes encourage questions to be asked on the forums if they are missed on roadmap streams

As for pinned threads, DTG seems to forget about them. No clue why the Spirit of Steam Preview Question Thread is in the Suggestions forums in the first place (perhaps because we still don't have a cross-platform discussion forum?), but I highly doubt it still needs to be pinned more than a month after the preview happened.
