Nice to see an updated version of the route, that's quite the extra commitment. Perhaps not going to be a must get a launch for me as it's not my kind of add-on but perhaps one day I'll add it to the collection

I'm guessing the livery is because they didn't manage to get a licensing agreement

Looks good i guess. I’m not overly excited but it will be interesting to see how they handle this.

I wonder how rivet will screw this train up (Hopefully they won't) Hey at least those that predicted it got it right.

I wonder if DTG would be interested in modernizing some of it's routes then like NTP or GWE. Although that would be a much bigger task

    Can you blame them.
Imagine the commercial department at SWR..
    Phone rings,
"Hello, you want to put the island line livery on your train sim model, I don't see why not. You name again"
    "in that case... No"

It's a pass from me. IoW is such a turd route on console.
They don't even have the license and you already know its going to be broken as its rivet

I like what I have seen, but for one EMU and an updated short route? Not for the full price. A pity the steam engine is not included. It would be nice if there can be some variety in trains. Maybe a class 08 and some maintenance train? Would be nice.

Maybe, at some point we should stop bashing Rivet. You know what to expect and for DTG the same comment applies. They do something but at a very slow speed. SEH, Clinchfield, still lots of issues that can and should be solved.

GWE would have to be completely rebuilt from the ground up. Also why stop at Reading go all the way to Oxford. Get Joethefish (sorry mate) to do the timetable and boy it will shine more than BML.

Sorry for keep spamming class 800 for all the years in the forum, but this may be a good model to replicate for GWE to extend the route and give us a class 800!

hmmm.... then that's a very odd decision for them to make. They've obviously got the license for the train shape iteself, and one wonders what IP the shape of the yellow hazard marker would have... And wouldn't "Island Line" be a trademark of SWR?

But it isn't the full price compared to other routes? Or are you comparing it to the original IOW route?

On the livery discussion: it's an entirely fictitious livery (we were able to get approval to use 'Island Line', but other areas we (and by extension, Rivet) weren't able to).

License for a yellow line? I don't even know how to respond to that? What's next is there a license for potential dust inside the cab of the train?

...the guys from Rivet did a wonderful job with the coastline and water depiction in WCL. So I'm looking forward to see a beautiful seaside from the pier in Ryde with its circling sea gulls. If I'm correct, there will be a new route layer from 2022, including the new train, in addition to the old route version from before.

I mean it is $2 cheaper than the original version but still $22.99 for an 8 mile route is a bit too expensive for a short gameplay experience

I hope the free upgrade to the original route fixes the magical appearing station. “Ping, there it is” said a relieved driver.

It’s a bit strange having a redone route release so soon after the original but I don’t see much wrong with the decision to do it. I think more people would have wanted it with the new train than the elderly thing in my profile picture because the kids do love modern shiny stuff. It may still be an old refurbished train but it looks and feels much more modern. It’s very reasonably priced as well, so I’ll consider buying it at some point. I’ll have to see what the quality is first of course.

Yet another UK emu to add to the toy box. It's becoming a little crowded in there.

Just in case some of you never bothered reading the gumph that the link went to. Also I have highlighted the most important thing you may want to take time to read.

    Hentis

Compared to the previous Class 483s, the new Class 484 trains sit higher above rail level, so throughout most of 2021, work was done to alter the platform heights by using an additional raised platform construction that sits on top of the older platforms. Additional work was also done to reinstate a passing loop at Brading.

The Island Line 2022: BR Class 484 doesn’t require Rivet Games’ Isle of Wight: Ryde – Shanklin as the BR Class 484 comes with its own modern version of the route. This modern-day line for Train Sim World 2 features improved and expanded environmental details along the line like Disabled Access Ramps, Platform end gates, Ryde Pier Clock plus much more. New signalling has been implemented together with a rework of station platforms further enhancing the realism on the route.

Rivet Games’ Island Line 2022: BR Class 484 is coming to Train Sim World 2 on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation and Epic Games Store, July 19 for £14.99/€17.99/$22.99. Pre-order will be going live later on Steam.

Does the 484 operate on any other routes? If it's just for IoW, it's a pass for me.

Was really excited for a second when i saw new content incoming.....but this is very underwhelming.

I'll boot up the original IoW from time to time but there's other routes DESPERATE for new rolling stock so this just seems like an odd choice.

That is extremely unappealing for a train simulator.

Regarding fictitious livery, I swear i remember DTG saying they wouldn't release unbranded content for TSW.

I understand things change over time, but this is a pretty major development- should we expect more unbranded content going forward?

1, they have ‘Asked us’ on stream but made it very clear they couldn’t police it so ….
    2. Very true, the only reason you would get it would be to get the old train, which Is 1199 on bakerloo so…

Not sure what I make of this. The original Isle of Wight still has issues. Why trust the second version, with new train, will be any better.

If kids cared only about what was new and shiny everyone would've flocked to see that UP Tier-4 SD70ACe when it came to my town. From what I remember nobody, adults or kids really cared about it, they were too busy looking at the big steam loco in front of it.

Being newer doesn't make it popular with the kids by default, and even if that was true, with how much DLC costs in this game very few kids are even playing this in the first place.

Isle of Wight is already a niche route, I don't think a whole ton are gonna be thrilled enough to double dipping. And I don't think a new version of the line with the 484's gonna have anymore appeal to those who weren't interest in the original line before.

At standard pricing probably, but mind you Isle of Wight goes for half off at this point, so it's still got the advantage with steam sales. If anything it makes me question how popular the 2022 line is gonna be even more. If there's a version which is available for half the price of the new one, just with different stock then how many are really gonna end up grabbing this version?
In TS Classic DTG themselves don't do unlicensed content, but they're ok with hosting third party DLCs which do that. It is a extremely strange and I feel kind of stupid stance to take, but that's the stance they took with TSC, that's what they seem to be taking with TSW.

Looks like it opens the possibility of a SWR route that means the PDL if Rivet got the license properly. I wonder if we can get the Diesel multiple unit version the Class 230 for a Welsh route
