Hi huys! I'm looking for a new add-on to the TSW2. I'm mostly interested in German railways. I already have MSB, Köln - Aachen and Nahverkehr Dresden. Wich on of the remaining would you recommend? A big plus if it has working LZB. I'm on a PS4 Pro Thankful for all help!
For variety of passenger & freight & also it looks amazing, very scenic I would give RSN a go, I also love Nahverkehr Dresden, also a great route with lots to do!
I agree with the Dresden. It is really awesome! Does RSN have functioning LZB? I would really like a mixture of passenger and freight services!
How about München - Augsburg? Is that only passenger services or is freight as well? Or Hamburg Lubeck. How is that?
München - Augsburg is the only other route which features LZB. On this route you can drive ICE (high speed), S-Bahn, regional and freight.
I believe Koln Aachen also have LZB. Long time not using it there. Of course the use is on shorter distance due to it is only on the 4 tracks part of the route.
I like Hamburg Lubeck. First thing to mention it does not have LZB as it is not High Speed route. You have big stations at both ends, mainly Hamburg one, which is very nice. You can run suburban trains, regional trains, IC trains (you must have DB101), and freight trains. There are also 2 separate freight yards. The Lubeck one is before the HBF, but the Hamburg one, you have to take a branch line to get it. This branch it is interesting being nice "decorated", with industrial areas and suburbs around, with some rivers and passing over some streets. Of course with Scenario Planner, you can run the ICE there too. Or using one on Creator's Club. It is 62 km long, with several interesting intermediate stations, and different speed limits, which make it nice.
Although there isn't lzb, I quite like hrr and dcz. Hrr is a decent route with the 422 and 425. I know on hma you don't get layers if you're on a last gen console so like ps4 and xbox 1. So you just have the ice and 423. You can also buy the 101 for extra services on hrr. Dcz is also a nice route with 4 locos (3 reused). 612 is a tilting dmu, you get railpool 186, shunting moves with the 363 and then you get the 143 for passenger. Rro is also decent. Looks quite nice and scenic. You get the 422 and the 185.5. challenging grades on some parts of the route and stuff. Idk whether other German routes other than hma get layers or not since I don't play on console.
I give you a brief opinion on all the German routes you don't have yet: -I don't recommend Hauptstrecke München- Augsburg on gen 8 because it doesn't include additional layers, so it has little traffic, no freight trains and almost half of the stations on the route are left without services. -Ruhr Sieg Nord has no LZB, it is a largely low speed route with freight playing a major role. It's a wonderful route but if you do get it I recommend you also purchase the BR155 and BR 363 DLCs as they add great value to this route. -Tharandner Rampe is a great route that hasn't been recommended to you yet, I really like it. BR612 is amazing and a lot of fun to drive both day and night thanks to its amazing lighting and also because of its wonderful sounds. It also has freight services and I think in gen 8 it has all the layers activated. It does not have LZB. -Rapid Transit has a section with LZB but you can only use it with the scenario planner. The community has made good scenarios with both ICE and BR 101 on this route to be able to use LZB. This route does not include freight . -Rhein-Ruhr Osten is quite a fun route as well. It has passengers and freight, and also has the BR G6 DLC which in my opinion is the best in TSW both for the quality of the locomotive and the freight services and scenarios included. -Hamburg-Lubeck is a pretty poor route so far, but Joe is building a new timetable with lots of AI trains which will bring it to life especially in the Hamburg area. I'm really looking forward to this because so far I haven't enjoyed this route as much as it deserves. What I don't think has been said is whether all the new services will be available for gen 8, so for now in your case I wouldn't buy it until this information is known. I think there are better alternatives in my opinion. -Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr is an acceptable route, with quite a lot of traffic. It also has some freight, with a total of over 400 services. What I don't remember is if gen 8 supports all of them. It doesn't have LZB but it is quite a high speed route, with many 160 km/h sections. The services are short, about 25-30 minutes on the longer ones. What makes this route a must for me is that you have to have it to get the BR 101, which is an amazing train. I hope it helps.
Thank you for taking your time to write all this! There's a lot of options it seems. I'm glad i read your comment before purchasing anything. LZB isn't really that important to be fair. I tried it on Nahverkehr Dresden and sure, it is a fantastic feature. But I'll rather have better sound and graphics. Tharandner Rampe looks interesting. Do you think I should buy it?
My favorite two German routes, besides DRA (NVD) which you already have, are Ruhr-Sieg Nord and Main-Spessart Bahn. But, no, neither is a Schnellfahrstrecke and they don't have LZB (or any need for it). Although LZB is a useful thing at lower speeds (for example 425 services on part of HMA), it only becomes a necessity at speeds over 160, and it isn't installed on that many routes.
Yes, I have realized that. As i stated above, it really isn't that important. Thanks for your answer!
Have to say that RSN is still one of my favourites. It's one if the first German Routes they did but there is something about it that feels so atmospheric. And with the 155 and 363 DLC ist a pretty alive route aswell. It has a great variety of services and the route length is more than decent aswell.
Well, i went for tharandter rampe. Haven't played much yet. But what I've been seen so far, it looks great. No lagging or fps drops as far as I can see. Having a little bit of trouble handling the 612, but it's just the mater of getting used to it i guess. Thank you all for your recommendations! ❤️
I think you have made a good choice! I bought this route on launch day and have not regretted it at any time. On the BR 612 remember to connect the gst tilt system and the gnt safety system because that is what makes this train so special. You probably already knew this but I say this because the pathetic in-game tutorial doesn't even explain something so important. If you have any questions about the route or anything about TSW ask whenever you want, there will always be someone on the forums to answer them.
