agreed I fail to see why the person had to mention anything about the on going issue with the 60 pack in a thread promoted for AL discussions
Now that you mention it, the MJW 60 should not have been mentioned in this thread at all. I replied to that forgetting which thread this was. Well then.
Hmmm... I'm going to be that party pooper as I just can't get that excited over a Class 60 I could be persuaded based on the quality/features of this forthcoming EP though... But if AP and friends were to revisit the Class 57 again one day for a fuller pack, with newer clearer sounds and the subclasses, I'd be bang up for that. I don't think their recording equipment at the time quite did justice to the EMD's highly strung and rather loud idling sound, especially when ETS is on (applicable to 57/3, 57/6). Although the 57 model is 9+ years old and will need redoing so I won't hold my breath. And now here I am... steering the thread back off the topic of an AP Class 60 enhancement
About time! This has been "coming soon" for 2 years now. I've just done a quick drive from Preston to Carlisle in the old 87, just to remind myself how rubbish it is so I can appreciate this more when when comes out.
I don't recall AP ever doing the class 57. If they did it must have been withdrawn quite some time ago.
I'll reserve judgment until I know more. We don't know liveries or anything else yet. There was an AP sound pack. Several Vulcan skins still require it. You'd think they'd do something about that by now...
I know it is his trainset so he can do what he likes but I don't know why he has withdrawn all those old sound packs. Especially the class 47 as there were so many freeware items which require it. Someone was developing a new set of Peaks including class 44's which I think were going to use it, I notice all talk of them have disappeared, which may, or may not be due to the withdrawal of the class 47 sound packs. He may well end up missing out on sales because of this. If a new class 47 is in the works, however, I certainly won't be grumbling.
That was a Vulcan set. As was the 55 no longer available. It feels like a competitive shot at Vulcan, so I would warrant both are in production.
That came out 8 or 9 years ago or so, IIRC. It was a marked improvement on the default at the time, but AP have better recording equipment now, that would no doubt do better justice to the somewhat highly strung EMD sounds of the Class 57. Re the other EMDs, I hope (but am 99.99999% sure it won't happen until after Pig Airport has regular departures...) that the sounds might get touched up for the 66 and 67 too - although they are fully fledged EPs, so I'll not hold my breath. They're very well mixed, but too quiet and not quite as grainy, industrial and droney as they are IRL. Especially the 67. Used to see them all the time and they're pretty loud on idle with ETS switched on.
The 87 hasn't really had that many, so I imagine it will have the full compliment. It will obviously have BR blue, and we know it will have Caledonian Sleeper, as we've seen that. We also know it has the NSE livery for the Olympic 2010 promo, and I can't imagine it won't have Virgin, although it will be unbranded (there will be a 3rd party patch for that within minutes of release ) It's special promo liveries I'd like to know... like the Porterbrook and AcoRP liveries... and the shorter lived ones like DRS. I can only imagine they will be though based on how comprehensive all the other AP liveries are. The only ones I know for a fact will not be included, as Waggonz have said so, are the Bulgarian liveries. Wasn't there a First livery too? I seem to recall seeing that... unless it was a vivid dream.
We have the awesome AP 86 which I own & love, I will definitely be getting the 87, so aside from a redesign of the front end what's the difference between the 86 & the 87? Do they not have the same bogies, tap changer etc?
Except 87101 which was Thyristor controlled, they pretty much drive the same as the 86. Still no news as to whether 101 will be included or not.. unless I missed it. The 87 has different bogies from the 86, yes... apart from 86101 to 103, which had the same BP9 bogies as the 87, as essentially, they WERE 87s.. they were the 87 prototypes.
There are a number of class 87s I would like but unless somebody does a reskin I doubt they would made
The first two look like moderately quick fixes, fortunately Peter. That is assuming they add the NSE livery in for it. I don't think 87s wore NSE livery under BR (I think a single 86 did), so with a bit of luck you might see a patch within the early weeks after its release, maybe on ATS or somewhere.
No Bulgarian liveries? This pack is a waste of money. Joking aside, it's probably like the Romanian liveries of the 56 being skipped when DTG picked up the IHH version and cut them out. As in, it probably would not be popular and have much use, anyway. Correct me if I'm wrong on its use, as I am sure someone else may have it in mind.
They weren't Romanian liveries, they were Romanian built. They ended up being withdrawn and rebuilt due to poor quality much like how DTG had to redo the IHH stock.
While the first 30 were built in Romania, I think he was probably referring to the three that went to Hungary... not Romania.
Why is an 87 hauling a 325 on an electrified line? 325s had their traction equipment removed or something?
I might go out on a limb here then, knowing how AP/colleagues like to add in ceremonial liveries, and suggest we may be in luck. The 87 wears the ceremonial NSE livery very nicely.
We already know that the NSE livery has been created. Waggonz posted images of it on Facebook. Clearly it's not completed though, as it lacks the Olympics slogan. Whether AP include it remains to be seen.
Either broken down or being hauled dead, which happens nowadays (usually Class 90s pulling them) but I'm not sure if it happened when that photo was taken.
The 325s normally ran on the WCML but this was diverted via the ECML and is approaching Newark.Northgate None of the drivers who know how to drive the 325s would know the ECML
When did the ECML get class 325 mail trains then? I'm only interested as they do run there now from Low Fell to Willesden and have done for at least 2 years as I see them on the York railcam Mon-Fri at around 22:45 (south) and 01:25 (north).
Seems they ran on the ECML at least as early as 2002: 16/05/2002 - Great Heck. | Two Royal Mail class 325 EMUs (32… | Flickr
Gü studios have released a screenshot of their upcoming Class 317/6 which will be part of their upcoming second volume of the 317/318. Previous volume published by AP.
Looking forward to this the KX - Kings Lynn run isn't the same without them in TSC. Also used for diagrams on on the GEML at various periods since they migrated from the GN in the mid-nineties.
Easily removed, or toned down, but to be honest, there probably would always be some reflection in that glass. I did the same with the AP 156. The reflections in the windscreen were a bit on the obvious side. It was 2 minute's work to sort out, and certainly not a reason to not buy it, as there is literally no other 156 that comes even close in every other respect. The same for this.. it's just not a significant enough reason to not buy it considering there's no alternative of a similar quality.
In fact, if anyone does have the AP 156 and is annoyed by the reflections, download the attached zip file, and place the included file in Railworks/Assets/AP/Class156pack01/Railvehicles/Diesel/Cabview/[variant] In there are folders for each type... Modern, Old, Original etc... just replace whichever one you want.. or all of them. Rename the original file "Cab_Glass_old.TgPcDx" before replacing it in case you want to revert back to the original, or you could just re-download it from AP I suppose.
I did the same on the AP 86 EP by replacing the new window glass with the default When it is sunny you might expect to see these reflections but not all the time.
I didn't replace them, I altered the AP files, so there's still a reflection... just not as annoying.
I would guess on £24.99 but that is just going by their other loco packs. They might decide this is worth a bit more like the class 412 pack. Whatever the price I will definately be getting this.
