To the team at Rivet - great job on the Isle of Wight route update/refresh! The audio in the 483 is noticeably better (nice work on the flange audio, but also the new flange sounds themselves) the environment cleaner and the textures prettier, and the water - you fixed the water!

Well done - thank you for listening to and incorporating feedback from the community. Looking forward to the 484. Keep up the good work!

I presume you have already received a copy from Rivet of the new 19th July release. Pleased to hear, it for once is ok. Typical of Rivet to produce a poor original and then charge us for putting it right and costing us over £30 to hopefully see an acceptable product. A vast improvement to WCL next, please.

    Just did a service on the updated IoW, it looks nicer but there's still several issues;
-The Class 483 still wheelslips for the first couple of seconds when accelerating from standstill (even in shunt/notch 1).
-AI trains still do not display any headlights/taillights when running in service.
-Since the update, the timetable is now 'messy' (i.e. timings now to the exact second rather than rounded to 30 second intervals).

It would have been nice to see some static AI trains in the depot at Ryde St Johns Road too, something people requested when the route first released (not a big issue but something that adds to the immersion and feel of the route, as in real life there's always some trains parked here out of service).

Why should we ‘bash’ rivet for something they haven’t done ? That’s like you being banned from the forums for a message you didn’t send

I believe both myself and redrev1917 were using irony and sarcasm to point out that he person who tried to bash them in fact got it wrong and should probably hang their head in shame or even apologise for being so utterly incorrect when the truth was out there and easily fact-checkable.

It never stops :) I always put you guys to the test though..

On the other hand, yes it's an improvement, seems some things have been listened to. Perhaps static AI at Ryde St John's depot and turn that bus engine sound down, or for environmental purposes, switch your engine off when stationary.

Rivet did a good job this time. Only thing, the volume of the flange sounds between Ryde Pier and St.Johns is beyond an excessive volume level, blasted almost my ears. Anybody else has that? Using a lot of mods, so could also come from that.

The flange is a lot more noticeable , but imo that’s a good thing . I love a nice flange sound

The 483 is still missing the cam sounds & the compressor still sounds rubbish.

Wouldn't do to praise Rivet without pointing out their failings :)

Personally I'm glad to receive the patch and hope it's a sign of a new sensitivity to railfan concerns.

    And the cat game stray!

Nothing for months and then three things at once. And on 26th Hitman 3 gets a new update...

While usually I'd play the DLC first day, this next week priorities have shifted. Stray > Horizon 5 > TSW2

Yeah. For me, its FH5 and then the 484. New content is great and all but that IOW line is too short and not a big priority. I might pick it up sooner if it has a launch discount or else wait until I am done with the expansion.

Original IoW £17.99 + IoW £13.49, if you bought both preorder that’s £31.48. When I was at school that is over £30.

After watching last night’s stream, I was very impressed with the improvements and thought that £13.49 for the 484 and improved route functionality was worth it so preordered it yesterday. Well done to Rivet, it looks a decent production, happy to pay same for a WCL improvement!!!

I think the op meant we were charged over £30 for the original Isle of Wight . And there’s not much need to be smart about it either

They're saying "we got charged for the old route, and now to get the new route and the old one updated we're being charged again, totalling £30"
Of course not quite the reality as the routes are separate and not required for the other to function, but that's how they see to view it

Anyone had issues getting the new add-on to load?
Bought it off Steam, installed content, it's on DLC list with a no file size indicated, not showing as an option on the Island Line or in the list of routes as a new version.

I've tried uninstalling both IoW DLC and reinstalling, uninstalling any mods, verifying files (which is at least safer in TSW) and still nothing.

Hahaha. Yes, I realised my dreadful error and rushed back hoping nobody had noticed. DLC release date mix-up.

I think I just about got away with it!!?!

Exactly. I paid for the pre order of the original £17.99 and this version out next week £13.49. That’s over £30 to get the route as it should have been produced. I am not complaining as the 484 and the new revamped route look really good and I am happy to pay for it. It looks like Rivet have done a really good job. I liked the Signal box tour as well, quite unique!

No... you paid £17.99 for the original and you're not paying any more to have that original updated (Which has already happened and been released and you haven't been charged any more)
The "new version" is essentially a train DLC (usually about £12) so you're getting the full route again including updated track, platforms, stations etc for about £3
You don't need one to play the other so they're two separate DLC routes, even if they're different versions of the same route IRL

If you decide you want both versions then yes you pay two DLC costs, but the same would be true of buying NTP and WSR or any other combination. It's just that in this instance the two DLC routes are the same route just in different times, but as I have said before, if DTG remade Crewe to Liverpool in 2022 you wouldn't expect to not pay for that new version

When Isle of Wight original released , it was ‘as it should’ve been produced’ . Now it’s been produced in a different time ‘as it should be’ . Rivet decided to make 2 routes , and they were both produced as they should’ve in their respective time eras . Besides , island line 2022 wasn’t a thing when Isle of Wight original released , so that’s kind of irrelevant

Now what we need is Rivet to do a third version… Pre 1967 when the line still ran on from Shanklin through Wroxhall to Ventnor and steam operated. That would be marvellous.

Though I’d also like to see a set of Class 485/6 Standard stock for the original route.

They way I look at the cost is that a normal route costs £24.99 and a loco £11.99. Totalling just under £37. Rivet have given us IoW and an updated IoW and the 484 for under £35 and less if you took advantage of the pre order offers. Absolute bargain in my opinion.

For £24.99 you usually get about 50 miles of track

That "back in the future" era experience i would support 100%.
Would have its own charm to make services in the steam era up to 2022. Well rivet is on a good way .
First official tsw route in 2 eras ;).
