https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/amtrak-amfleet-cab-car.3286/ I will acknowledge, that for the time I've been playing this game, I have wanted to see many things come to this sim. Within the last few years, quite a few things have come. Most recently, The LIRR. But now that it is out, I feel that this piece of content I'm trying to reinvigorate interesting again sorely needs to be brought over to TSC. Of course, the NEC route is old and dated. And very much could do with a proper makeover. But the Amtrak Ex-Metro Cab Car is one of the pieces of equipment that for some reason has been long neglected and brought over to the wrong Sim, simply because the route for it didn't provide much in the way of playability and utilization. With the NEC route for TSC, it will be better served and utilized. Although a Keystone Corridor route would also be a welcome addition to expand scenario variety. I believe it would be fantastic if it was also given multiple passenger view perspectives. Something that does seem to be very lacking with a lot of American-based commuter/passenger content.
I think a Keystone Corridor route would be necessary to get a cabcar in game. Something DTG will hopefully consider is the Paoli-Thorndale Line, which, while only 35 miles in length, has combined commuter and intercity service (maybe NS freight too). Since SEPTA denied branding rights, the SEPTA stock (modified Arrow IIIs into Silverliner IVs) could remain unbranded. Call it “Philly Commuter” or “Keystone Commuter,” like Racetrack. If they had more dev time they could go further to Coatesville or even Lancaster. To do a Keystone Corridor route would leave no excuse to not port the Metroliner cabcar in, and perhaps with the TSW Amfleets too (which would be better than what we have now).
NEC Railfan I hear what you’re saying. And I do understand to a certain degree about small team/dev time. But 35 miles for a keystone route is just cringy. Granted that seems to be standard practice across both games, oddly. But a part of me feels if they can’t do it to Harrisburg, don’t even bother. It would be nice if some of DTG’s 3rd party partners would help in addition to their small team to get more passenger routes done with adequate length. But it’s much easier for them to freight, being that there’s not much in the way of requirements other than placing big yards and spurs along the line, not to mention light scenery. I like the NEC BAL-WASH, LIRR, and Hudson. However, what kills it for me, and I'm sure with others, with all of those routes, is the length. I feel like the last Commuter route that was given its proper length, was the NJCL. Now with TSW in the way, we don’t see adequate enough mileage with passenger ops. I miss the days before TSW.
