Follow us on Instagram (instagram.com/trainsim) to see your screenshots featured on our feed!

    How does it work?

You can submit your screenshot to the thread, and every Friday we will choose which screenshots will go to the loading screens. Shortly after, we will open a new thread and announce the winners. Each week has its own theme which is voted for by the community.

    • Screenshots must fit the theme of the week, as stated at the beginning of this post.
    • In order to qualify for the competition, screenshots must be taken from products published by Dovetail Games that are currently on sale.
    Other Rules:

    • Official content only. Please make sure anything that is not available on the Steam Store or Dovetail Store is not shown in the screenshot. - This means no reshade, repaint mods, track upgrades or workshop routes.
    • Your entry may be disqualified if it is deemed to not follow these rules. Please limit chat to only when absolutely necessary.
    • Competition closes at mid-day Friday (UK time). The winner will be chosen every Friday.
    • Winner's Prize: The winning screenshot will appear in the game as a loading screen for 1 week!
(Please Note since the new update which changes loading times we have decided to change it to 1 week)

It is an SD40-2, you can tell by its broken door texture on the front (As well as it's road number)

    Screenshot_Union Pacific's Wasatch Grade_41.04538--111.31256_09-06-35.jpg
The Union Pacific has been over their course of history, a railroad that always looked for bigger power, this photo is no exception, as GTEL #8 leads a coal train with 2 GE U50's over the Wasatch Grade sometime in thelate 1960's. The 3rd Generation "Big Blow" GTEL's were delivered 1st in 1958, and stayed on the roster till 1970. The GE U50s were 1st delivered in 1963, and were off the roster by 1977.

    Route: Wasatch Grade
Locomotive: Union Pacific GTEL 8500hp "Big Blow" Turbine, GE U50

    Screenshot_Feather River Canyon_40.01882--120.95767_08-56-47.jpg
In the early 1980's, the Union Pacific suffered a power shortage due to an increase in rail traffic. Starting in 1983, the UP started to return a total of 25 "Centennials" to service, they stayed in service till late 1984, when the traffic surge started to die down. A scene common during this time, UP 6922 leads a TOFC freight thru the Feather River Canyon sometime in early 1984. UP 6922 was lucky to be one of 14 locos preserved after the DDA40X's were retired, and is currently in North Platte, Nebraska.

    Route: Feather River Canyon
Locomotives: EMD DDA40X "Centennial", EMD SD40-2

I actually have three shots I'd share from an EMD SD40-2 UP-UnitedWay, EMD GP35 UP run on NS Coal District.
Just in case - no, I have no enhancers.
    1) I like how this one feels full screen.

Next from an EMD SD40-2 UP-UnitedWay, EMD GP35 UP run on NS Coal District.
Just in case - no, I have no enhancers.
    2) The "hello this is UP" frontal shot with the little (lo-fi) logos. Slightly dark, but works in full screen.
    20220702200543 - EMD SD40-2 UP-UnitedWay, EMD GP35 UP, Wagon Hopper UP.jpg
    3) The last one I'm afraid to share because rules, train is the cleanest of them all but also a bit less in focus. If, however, by the morning somebody says one of these is actually horrible, I'll replace for a proper chance. :)
