Service 5X03 on Diesel Legends of the Great Western (Class 08, 03:22) on PC now derails within a few seconds of the service being launched. It did not used to do this - I have played the service before the recent changes to Great Western Express. It derails regardless of whether the service is launched in Journey or Timetable modes.
Actually, if you time it right, you have just about enough time to leap off the train and watch it fall over!
Hello, just jumping on to the thread - we have heard your report and I've sent it to the development teams.
5X03 has always been broken since the release of GWB, there was always a 33/33/33 chance of success, derailment or SPAD because the 08's buffers are wedged under the last car's buffers. I reported it shortly after release, just like the last car in 5X23 that is wedged in the bumper. A fix was supposedly already being worked on, but it was never released.
Hello, I believe this could be linked to other derailments and buffer issues we've been seeing, can I get you to check out this thread we've just posted to compile all of these so we can very quickly diagnose the issue and get it resolved: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/derailment-buffer-block.60307/ Thank you for your patience, our development teams are currently working on a solution.
This will not be fixed in 5 years either, seems to be too difficult to put the 08 1m further back. Just like 5X23, in May 2021 Matt had a fix in preparation for that service, must be halfway done, just wait another 2 years and ask again. It's getting more and more ridiculous, sorry.
I believe it's because the wagon's buckeye coupler is not lowered (Clearly visible in the screenshot above). I saw derailments when the AI loco couples to the train on the other end, just intervening by lowering the coupler did fix it. To play this, simply spawn on foot at 3:20. It will work then.
Spawn on foot at 3:20 and it won't happen. Wait till the train uncouples from the Gronk, then you can start 5X03 by taking the engineers seat at around 3:21.
No it doesn't count, you get the medal but the service is not checked off green, so it is still unfinished in Journey Mode. You can never complete this chapter without a real fix.
Ok. Haven't played journey mode. At least you can play the actual service. DTG just need to fix the coupler states on service start, but we know how long simple fixes can take... Note, if you continue to freeroam after finishing that service, you need to go to the other end of the train to switch from buckeye to hook coupler before the loco arrives and tries to couple up. DTG Alex Are you aware that this is the issue? I'm too lazy to file support tickets
Right click, edit, push Class 08 back 1 meter, save, beta test, release, check off, never read anything about the service again, customer is a bit more happy, DTG can think about the next right click. I doubt this will take longer than 20-30min. If you keep this up, the mountain of collected bugs will finally get smaller and maybe be completely gone at some point. But no, we have been waiting for many years now, Y-E-A-R-S!!
It's not the position of the loco - it's the BG's coupler being in the wrong state. Moving the loco is a workaround (and probably not doable as it is not a scenario but a timetable train which after uncoupling the 08 becomes two services), correcting the coupler state as it is in On Foot mode is the correct way to fix it.
Check out post #6, make the picture big and you'll see the real problem. It's definitely not the Buckeye coupler, it's that the buffers of the 08 and the buffers of the cars are wedged into each other and that's what causes the 08 to fidget and then derail, just install TSW 2 and take a closer look at the bug without any time pressure because back in TSW 2 the 08 didn't derail immediately and you had some time and could take lots of screenshots and clips from different angles, believe me it is 100% not due to the buckeye coupler. The same problem has the GWB service 5X23 with the last wagon stuck in the buffer stop similar to many depot services on SOS, as soon as you couple, the train flies beyond the sky. On foot mode is unacceptable, Journey Mode cannot be completed this way so it must be fixed by DTG.
I still think it is, because of the collision boxes being different depending on the coupler used - and it's the one thing that is different between foot/cab start mode. On foot mode has all couplers on the Mk1/Mk2s set to buckeye that are not connected to a loco. 5X03 starts after the uncoupling happens, with the back of the Guard Van having its coupler lowered correctly because it was previously hooked to the 08 - that's why it works here. As 5X03 starts with the Gronk uncoupled, the BG has the buckeye raised (default consist state) - so it seems there's an overlap between the models / buffer spring miscalculation leading to the 08 being catapulted away. We have given DTG enough input to go and fix the issue.
I am also unable make any progress on 5X03. The service derails immediately. I tried various workarounds but was not able to prevent the derailment. As reported by sequencer2k16, 5X23 also has an unavoidable derailment that occurs when attempting to couple to the set of cars. DTG Alex, may we please get these services added to the fix list? Encountering broken services that were reported years ago is getting frustrating for us players.
