    Yeah fml...
It's good for someone who doesn't have TSW yet, but what about players that already have it?

Facts, they should just make the weather and graphics stuff a free upgrade for owners.

Fine if you don't want everything else that's been added... It's not just weather

I actually like most of the stuff they've done. However there's no denying that SEHS and SOS makes this transition messy for UK fans.

Well yeah all the core upgrades. What I'm getting at is that TSW2 owners shouldn't have to pay $40 for the upgrade to TSW3. TSXX had that model where each year would have a new version with some upgrades (sometimes), and that new version was free for existing owners. If you wanted the routes, you could buy them, but the core update was free.

so SEHS again for the UK. lol. This is getting ridiculous.

Edit: I mean we should have seen it coming. There was only a US route and a German route on the roadmap.

TSC didn't really get much with core updates... No new weather, no new train mechanics, only real update was 64 bit a few years back

I think for some of us in the UK, we are getting ripped off.

I know that HS1 is the only line in the country that could do 140mph/225kph. But to have Germany get a new route. I don't why something new could have been made for us too.

    Totally disappointed in the news.

Yes, good point. I just find it unfair that we are forced to buy a new route we may not want to receive the core updates. At least a discount if you already own TSW2 and aren't interested in what's on offer for TSW3.

    My thoughts:
    - The ICE 1 is a big plus - It's my personal favourite out of the ICE Family, and it also means that we can recreate its excursion to the USA with Amtrak in the early 90's. Here's hoping a remake of the old NEC route from TSW2020 is on the cards at some point in the future!
    - Having access to BNSF content in TSW is also rather cool, especially since for years the company had effectively banned any representation of itself in DLC sold outside the USA through its licensing agreement with DTG.
    - It's a little bit of a shame that the UK representation this time isn't a new route, but an extension of one I already have in the form of DLC for TSW2.
    - Going by the website, a big plus is that all the previous addons for TSW2020 and TSW2 should work with the new game, so I won't need to spend more cash rebuying stuff I've already got - that is pretty cool. Hopefully this time there isn't as much work to do in porting the old ones over!

I dunno, but the eye adaptation option had better be toggleable in the options screen like in most games because alongside motion blur and stuff it's really uncomfortable in games and I need it off.

Glad i'm not the only one who hates all this stuff that tries to make it seem as if you are playing the game looking through a camera lens,

I want to simulate being in the trains cab myself, using my own 2 eyes to view things, not watching a cab ride video.

Does it look like the draw distance is now goes to the horizon? It’s difficult to tell if anything’s changed.

New lighting is irrelevant if it cuts off in the middle distance and everything beyond that is nuclear warfare.

If I wanted to simulate watching it through a camera instead of through my own eyes I'd play at 30FPS :P

I don't understand why people would expect it to be a free upgrade?

If it was TSW2023, I could see that argument, but this seems like a pretty major update, which comes with 2 completely new routes (or 3 depending on how you look at extended SEHS).

Compared to the TSW2 launch which had one completely recycled route and two with major limitations, this is a big improvement IMO.

Yes, it's an improvement, but it feels like every couple of years we get a "major improvement" that we either have to pay for or miss out on new content.

I posted this on discord as to my thoughts on TSW3

    + New lighting looks awesome
+ New particle effects look good
    + Dynamic weather looks great
    + ICE 1
    + End to ridiculous tutorials
    + SEHS getting an upgrade
+ Long distance routes coming into play now
+ Thank goodness we replaced that UI
+ Backdrop to improvements to Scenario editors
+ I actually like the new logo, bolder and more visible. They might have leaned slightly into the "populism" branding, but hey... it works for a reason.

    - SEHS upgrade option does complicate things. A common sense upgrade path would have been a "Cajon Pass & Kassel" Bundle for $42-$45. Current SEHS owners will feel cheated a bit.
    - Lack of UK content
    - No "core engine" upgrade path
    - Not sure on price... have to think on that a bit.
    - The new pain-point (and I think londonmidland will agree with me) is lack of SSAO or SSR/Raytraced reflections, particularly in wet environments. Makes lighting look flat)
    - Potentially re-doing achievements AGAIN... for a second time... is not fun. Fix it DTG!

Overall, the positives far outweigh the benefits and keep a progressive development to the game. Just now we have new challenges to face to improve the game :D

Wait! What do you mean pay for the upgrade? I am fine with buying the routes, $60 for 2 routes still works out about average. But making us pay for essentially an engine upgrade is not good.

Here's a comparison irl (a little grain of salt since irl conditions are cloudier than in-game). But whilst the direct lighting itself looks fantastic, many building and moving elements lack presence. No contact shadows/ao inbetween pillars, windows, clothing downgrade the quality of the render.

I read the entire description of TSW3 and the game follows other games like F1 or Fifa.
A simple upgrade with new content or extended content With a game full priced.

It seems like Dovetail Games has deleted a comment criticizing them on the TSW3 trailer which they "accidentally" hearted.
Edit: Just checked the comment section by this morning. It appears to be there again, but without the heart,

Thanks for all the speculation, folks. It's been great to see so many knowledgeable people and theorycrafting! We'll do a post-release blog/stream on putting the teasers together. DTG Alex is champing at the bit to do it.

    A few reasons, really.
    • We wanted to try to do an Extension to an existing route, to see how it could be done for TSW
    • Southeastern was one of the most popular, and one we felt would benefit best from TSW3's new feature set
    • Lots of player feedback we could work on to improve the experience for players
(just for visibility, the update will be more than just added mileage - I've grabbed this from the FAQs:
    • Extended from London St Pancras to Ashford Intl and from Gravesend to Dartford.
    • New lighting and dynamic weather effects.
    • The route now covers 89 miles (143 km) in total.
    • Ebbsfleet Station can be fully explored by taking the walkway across platforms.
    • Catenary and overhead lines have been overhauled to represent the route more accurately.
    • Enhanced signaling and safety systems (TPWS).
    • 5 new scenarios, bringing the total to 21.
    • The Class 465 is now included as standard and a refreshed Timetable.)

Is that with both the route and locos? Since they're letting you buy any loco separate from its route that might just be the price for a route with no locos.

LOL are you REALLY THAT SAD to troll you make lies up about a DTG employee on here changing your comment. Out of ALL the comments on here they have only changed one and that is YOURS. GROW UP. You are a known trouble maker on here on the steam forums and elsewhere.

Just so you are aware have reported your comments on here where you are constantly trolling as well perhaps a little ban from here as well as the other places your banned in will do you good.

It's more likely that the comments are shadowbanned by YouTube's "anti hate" commenting filter.

Just to point out, I've been on streaks on critical commentary on DTG and partners... and have not been banned from the forums. In fact I'm rather pleasantly surprised that a good chunk of that commentary has seemingly been addressed in TSW3.

From past experience, the ones who do get banned... tend not to know what the mature limit is. If the goal is to ask rhetorical questions all day, you'll find you will get the opposite reaction you expected. If there are issues with the game (of which we all know exist in buckets and spades), then there are more successful ways critiquing DTG, and engaging with the community to get that change.

Agreed. I really was expecting some sort of marquee UK route, maybe a WCML or ECML whopper (silly me..). Instead we got an extension to a route which was hammered before it was even released.

But, this leaves me with slight hope that we'll see the GWML extended one day.

Yh I'm in a similar boat. My guess is having Sprit of Steam and Isle of Wight 2.0 was enough recent satisfactory content for UK, and DTG focused on US/DB whilst all that big UK content was being made.

The positive spin on this... is long distance routes are being kicked down, and Kassel-Wurzburg sets a precedent for a future UK route to match! 115 miles can get us quite alot in the UK like London-Peterborough, London-Birmingham, GWML extended. So it's looking pretty positive imo.
