Don't count on it. None of the publicity shots so far have shown how things look at night, whether from the cab, in towns/cities or the countryside.

Apparently, according to DTG Alex, there are two roadmap streams this week. Both at 19.00 UTC on Thursday 11th :|

Nice job on the video yesterday JD and Matt. Lots of awesome things to look forward to. I would say "brilliant" but I'm an American so it's not allowed. And my favorite route of course is an Ameri- no scratch that, it's Cathcart Circle for the win!

It really looks like TSW3 will be a much greater overall experience- looks outstanding. Delighted to see that TW2 content will carry over.

One concern that I have is that they aren’t releasing a PS5 add on fix for TSW3 until after release. And I can’t blindly trust these guys to follow through on that promise since we’ve been waiting a year for it to get fixed on TSW2. Also, will the fix cause more issues, etc.

So for that reason, I’m holding off until that’s resolved.

I am a little confused over the pricing structure of TSW3.
Firstly, I own SEHS and SOS so I don't need to buy the deluxe version.
Second, I don't need to buy the standard version because I would get the updated SEHS free.
Third, If I want the German and US routes I am left with the choice of buying 2xstarter packs at £59.98 or
buying the standard version anyway at £39.99.
As for Xbox users not getting a pre-order discount for the standard version because it is going on Game Pass
is no use to me as I and countless others do not have Game Pass and do not intend getting it.

Just one question I would like to know the class 465 would we be able to change the destination or would it be set for us because I do like changing the destination

Yes it is. The track was completely re laid, and the signaling has been overhauled, as well as improved catenary.

For Gravesend to Dartford it’s a total of 5 additional stations; Northfleet (this one is visible in the current route), Swanscombe, Greenhithe, Stone Crossing & Dartford. Adds around 5/6 miles & 15 minutes to the services on the North Kent line.

The Ebbsfleet to Ashford Intl is then one more station, and adds 33 miles, takes around 20 minutes to get between the two via HS1.

I read in the FAQ's that DTG is looking into the possibility of porting over game-progress, but there are no promises. They'll let us know in one of the streams. I'm not holding my breath though... It'd be such a shame to have to re-start... once again :(

How many times is DTG going to remake Chatham? I know it is their local station but why can't they make somthing elswhere on the SouthEastern rail network? Or somthing that's not in the south....

ROADMAP - I’ve seen people posting incorrect info and the correct info is as follows…

There are two articles - one today and one tomorrow. 10th and 11th August
There is only one stream - tomorrow 11th August

    Just so you know.

No, it isn't. It is a reworking of the old route, overhauled and made bigger.

An "extension" would be a separate module which is added to a pre-existing route to make it longer (and not usable without the pre-existing route). To do this would require modularity, which TSW definitely still does not have..

Each route would have to be reworked individually to take advantage of the new systems, one at a time. The new lighting, in particular, would require replacing every single light source in the route.

It isn't an upgrade which can be accomplished just by changing some code in the core.

I’m wondering if the game has to be out for them to be able to fix it? I have no idea how this stuff works.
If that’s the process, then I totally respect it, but I won’t buy in until that’s taken care of.
I mean, I’m rooting for them; as soon as it’s confirmed fixed, I’m buying.

It is a reworking and enlargement of the old SEHS route. It is NOT a plug-in module (call it "hair extensions" for rail)

They have added 5 stations on SEHS also. Do you people not watch the presentations?
It's easy to see the usuals who got insta-triggered and those who watched the whole livestream.

I typed this out on another post but here goes...
    • Two extensions, one from Ebbsfleet to Ashford, one from Springhead to Dartford.
    • Reworked OHLE
    • Reworked signals
    • Added in working TPWS
    • Class 465 included rather than as DLC
    • Reworked timetable so 465, 375 work where they're supposed to not everywhere as in TSW2, more for the class 66 to do...
    • TSW3 skies, dynamic weather etc
    • Oh... and approach control

    Yes. Very much.

"Extensions" (which exist for TSC) are separate add-ons for existing routes, "DLC for DLC." You own Route A; you then have the option of purchasing "Route A extension" which makes it longer. Route A Extension is not free-standing; Route A is and it doesn't need the extension to be playable.

From a structural point of view the distinction is even more important: extensions, or even better route-linking (joining up two freestanding routes, like BML and ECW), would require DTG to develop a framework for modularity, which they certainly have not done by just overhauling SEHS in a bigger form.

I watched the video on YouTube for TSW3 and Matt said the Scenario Planner wasn’t getting anything new added to it but new UI. What happened to Scenario Planner version 2?

you can buy ANY edition (including the german edition) and all of your TSW2 content will be issued as TSW3 content as well. Given you own the SEHS from TSW2 you will get the TSW3 SEHS (there won't be a TSW2 version of the route on TSW3 only the extended route)

I believe you would only get an Upgrade to SEHS with that edition

not the extension parts to Ashford and Dartford

There is a non uk Bundle
There's a German bundle and a US bundle. Not for Pre order though (i mean they wont run out of digital copies). Admittedly there's no US / German only pack but well I dunno. Thats down to DTG.

DTG said on another post that the TSW3 version of SEHS is the extended version. The TSW2 version won't be transferring. Same with SoS

    Just to clarify:
The TSW2 version of SEHS is and always will be the old "small" version.
The TSW3 version of SEHS is and always will be the new "big" version.

Absolutely. If the TSW2 route had a separate DLC which added to that version then it would be an extension
This is a new version of the route on a new game which just happens to be longer than the old version of the route in the old game

I'm sure somebody out there can actually make sense of this without people thinking "What? I'm buying the same thing all over again?!?"

Nope, if you have SoS then you get the TSW3 version with volumetric skies and so on with ANY version of the game. Just buy the one which has the DLC you want and SoS will be yours as well. This is true of all TSW2 owned content, but only SEHS and SoS will have the new sky system in place from day one

If I were DTG marketing I wouldn't have called it an extension or expansion. Maybe a remaster would fit the description better?

It is an extension, plain and simple. Adding on to an already existent route is exactly that.

    I quote:

"a part that is added to something to enlarge or prolong it.
    "the railway's southern extension".

This came directly from the Cambridge Dictionary. Even if you want to re-word it to an 'Addition', they share similarities.

Honestly doesn't surprise me that they went this route with extensions, they're too much in demand, but they really have hard lined against the DLC for DLC model. And for a while now they've been heavily using existing locos in favor of new ones, reusing the routes themselves is a logical extension of the mindset. Not much fan of this stratagy, but it's very much in line with what DTG's done in the past, as they did do the same thing with certain extensions in TSC like Gilroy and Morristown. And at least they're letting existing SEHS owners have it with the starter packs, so that softens the blow.

One thing if I remember correctly is that they specified that this their first extension, which seems odd if this is planned as a one off. So I wonder if we're gonna start seeing redone and extended standalone versions of other older routes? GWR seems like the obvious choice for that treatment, and I suppose the aforementioned Gilroy extension would also make sense as well.
