Final installment of a series a captures devoted to the standard scenario 06:45 Truro - Falmouth, for TobBirk's Falmouth Enhanced Steam Workshop route. The scenario name says all that need be said, except that it's doably timetabled. The train is fronted by a (VW) GWR 4575 2-6-2T "Small Prairie" Steam Loco, seen in BR livery. It had no trouble negotiating the run's hills. Alas, it lacks custom cab lean-out cameras, always a negative for me. (VW's "Large Prairie" loco pack does supply custom lean-outs.)

One of my favourite corners of the TS universe is the Croxley Green branch (NSE North London Lines), set in the late 1980s shortly before closure. This route just oozes with NSE atmosphere, managing to convey corporate tidiness and run-down decrepitude simultaneously.

On the Isle of Wight Steam Railway during a Saturday on the 15th of April, 2017, a Southern Stroudley A1X Class 'Terrier', numbered W8, pulls a passenger service from Smallbrook Junction to Wootton and then back to Smallbrook Junction. This is part 1 of 3 of a group of screenshots. In this part we see the train going from Smallbrook Junction to Havenstreet Station.

Mate, consider getting the AP Weather expansion pack. The old and dark "Kuju\RailSimulatorCore\TimeOfDay\Core_..." skies don't do this beautiful route any good. ;)

Part 2 of 3 of the journey on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway with a Southern Stroudley A1X Class 'Terrier'. In this part we will be travelling from Havenstreet to Wootton where the A1X Class will decouple from the coaches and go around to the other end for the journey back to Smallbrook Junction.

I recently came to realize that I've no "high quality" TS captures of the Terrier, and began thinking on a route to plop it down on that's both enjoyable to drive and visually appealing. The very next day, part one of your series appeared here. Very nice images! IoW looks better in them than it does when I run trains on it. I've always considered it visually underwhelming, and hope I meet requirements for the in-development SSS "Super Detailed" freeware IoW. It looks to be a major improvement on the stock route. <crosses fingers>

A run from Claygate to Wimbledon in a 707 - most Sunday services from the Guildford New Line terminate at Wimbledon. 707s, before most were transferred to Southeastern, were a common sight on the Windsor and Kingston lines (and some still are) but could occasionally be found on the Surbiton lines - for a long while, one set was diagrammed onto SWT/SWR's Suburban Cycle A, covering routes to Dorking, Chessington, Hampton Court and some others. Interestingly enough, trains on the cycle ran from Waterloo to Guildford via Epsom and return via Cobham, (the inverse being covered by Cycle B), this being a unique arrangement in the UK. So, it was only ever possible to see a 707 running southbound through Bookham, and northbound on any of the line between Effingham Junction and Hinchley Wood!

While I usually share pretty pictures, or journeys of sorts, trying a mix of showing what I do and also entertain...
... one thing I cannot show off is one of my favorite moments and moods of playing TS: night runs.
This is the silliest picture ever in this thread I'm sure, but at the same time, I'm sure I'm not alone.
I do have shareable night shots, but one of the nicest moments is driving through a yard, out the city or somesuch, and just seeing the myriad of little signal lights in front and all around.

DT recently released what is purported to be the complete version of its freeware Johnson 4-4-0T "Midland Misfit" loco pack, a fictitious loco that was designed but never built. Lots of livery/color variants are included, with a rotary / stick reverser variants. Glitched regulator A/D keys are fixed. Here are a couple of variants I find appealing.

Midland & Great Northern Railway seen on Settle to Carlisle:
Remaining images are BR Garter Blue. Coaches are MT BR ExMid Cler Cor. The route is third-party freeware North Lincolnshire:

Plenty of lovely shots this week. Very happy to see some new and returning names, with quality additions, might I add. I also spotted a like from Jörg - eagerly awaiting more of his.

Before sharing my set, a question. Over the years my goal has evolved into: showing off my best moments of TS Classic, mixing various subjects per post, with bits of documentation intent where due, sprinkled with a personal touch of what I've been doing recently, without kneeling to the Photoshop-is-mandatory mindset, and considering the limits of my computer. That said, if you saw anything from me recently where you felt I shouldn't share this, let me know. Thanks! :)

By the way, you can easily apply the AP weather pack here. Just copy the AP\WeatherEP\TimeOfDay folder to NZTSWS\MidlandNZ (rename the original folder to TimeOfDay.ORIG). Then rename the files by adding the "Midland_" prefix. Now edit them with TSTools or Serz and adjust the sun and moon azimuths according to the original NZ files (Sun/Moon Spring: 0.61/-0.3, Summer: 0.26/0.31, Autumn: 0.61/0.71, Winter: 0.92, -0.59). The daylight times AP defined roughly fit the southern hemisphere in the NZ latitudes, so changing the azimuths to have the sun traverse the northern sky is all you need to do.
Of course do not use the supplied Midland weather blueprints then, but the according AP ones. I love how AP just got the distant fog colours right, those mountains look great as opposed to the old Kuju dark blue or the new DTG too bright blue mountains.

Note: After some testing, I found AP weather including an Overcast layer does not seem to work properly, this layer seems to only be drawn in the northern hemisphere and looks like it's cut off at the equator.

And for those who have performance issues with this route. I found it best to leave the Scenery Density maxed, but reducing the Shadow Quality to the second leftmost position - this kills shadow casting of the massively used grass vegetation assets which is the FPS eater. (If you use the minimum Shadow setting you will lose you in-cab shadow, making the cab appear fully lit, that's why I choose 2nd position.)
If you're still having issues reduce the density slider and check for the best setting for you which depends on your hardware.

The first Career scenario is a good test, as soon as you're leaving Springfield there's a massively vegetated area.

No shadow casting grass, good performance

Full settings, FPS killer grass shadows:

More images from an ongoing early daylight Jasper's Farm Siding to Lenton Slaughterhouse cattle delivery QD on Lenton on Sea Branch-Line Steam Workshop route. Motive power is a WaysideWorks freeware Beyer LSWR "Ilfracombe Goods" 0-6-0 tendered steam loco, here in plain black livery. I'm getting a rather consistent 33-35mph with the reverser at 28 and the regulator at around 65 with this load on level track:

It's a special day on The Isle of Wight Steam Railway because a preserved Stroudley A1X Class 'Terrier' is painted into an old livery and number of another Stroudley A1X Class known as W8 'Freshwater'. This new livery and number is 46 'Newington'. 46 'Newington' will pick up more coal and couple up to some coaches before doing a short passenger run from Havenstreet to Wootton.

Revisiting Miami, heading to Ft. Lauderdale. Using modified AP TimeOfDay files, adjusted to Miami's low latitude, to have the sun standing really high at noon. (Though these are afternoon shots)
