I wonder if bloom will still be a thing?

As someone who travels through Ashford regularly I can confirm it's an ugly dump.
Just hoping DTG will be applying the porcine lipstick vigorously.
The bloom is least of my worries...

I would like to add to the wishlist of improvements, that Higham get looked at too. It also looks extremely bare but my biggest issue is the 8 car stop mark is in completely the wrong place. Working a 8 car 465 from Rainham, you end up hanging off the end by a coach and a bit.
Also the signals between the Higham and Strood tunnels either don’t have AWS magnets, when numerous cab videos I’ve seen show there are, or they aren’t working?

*Edit: also since they’ve reworked the 375 a bit, the 465’s brakes are a little too good, it would be great to see that tweaked

A quick question from me after a look on the southeastern network map:

Which part of the high speed section is extended? From ebbsfleet to ashford, or faversham around the eastern corner back to ashford? Or maybe both?

  5. Can't see the line on that map.

Should be dark grey from ebbsfleet to Ashford.

Was zoomed in to far, runs down the lhs from ebbfleet to Ashford.

    Only hs1 no other routes.

    So its confirmed hs1 (only)?

  9. Yeah we are getting hs1 extended from ebbsfleet to Ashford so will be able to run from St Pancras to Ashford. Matt let slip in the stream about one of the euro high speed trains being layered for some proper high speed runs as a sort of eurostar. Look forward to that.

    Also Gravesend to dartford extension.

Forgot to mention they have open the eurostar platforms at St Pancras so should have a ice or something like that non stop to Ashford.

And from what we've seen with TSW3 showing up on Steam Friends play lists, it's now in advanced external beta/play testing. So other than gamekiller bugs or glitches pretty much count on things shown now remaining as they are.

Eurostar would make a fine dlc.
If the route is successful we might see one.

DTG apparently approached Eurostar for a license, and Eurostar told them to sod off

Excuse the compression but I wonder what AI trains these could be?

The said trains are seen on the ECML to/from London Kings Cross as well as the Thameslink Core lines to/from London St Pancras low level.

The 5 car ones are probably LNER azumas and the 4 car either class 365s or 387s but possibly placeholders for now.

And here I was thinking the new lighting looked pretty good. Not perfect by any stretch but a step up. I don't need the game to look completely lifelike, that's an unreasonable expectation.

I'm glad we're getting upgraded sounds for the 375 and 395, I've been moaning about the former on these forums for a year and I'll continue moaning until they do the same for the ECW 377. Also the 66 sounds, although I didn't think they were that bad to begin with. I rarely play freight anyway so it doesn't bother me.

The freight yard looking pristine is pretty inexcusable though. I traversed the line myself last month although I must confess I was more interested in the 66s in the sidings than the condition of the track itself. Unlike a German or American route DTG practically just have to roll out of bed to get the correct references. I'll never understand why they seem to put more effort into the scenery of foreign routes, that's what it feels like at least.

Me too, I thought since Rush Hour they had new winter trees. Granted SEHS is pre-RH so maybe it was too big a job to update them. Let’s say then that it’s a missed opportunity and a darn shame given the nice snowfall effects we will have.

It’s not that. There was a mod available for PC long before DTG did it officially that fixed leafy trees in winter across all routes. Sadly it looks like that industry leading attention to detail again at work again rather than anything else.

I might of course be wrong, and hopefully it’s a simple fix, but it’s a really odd thing to have suddenly come back again.

    Pure speculation……

SEHS extension is the first one to go on this route with more to come. Discuss

I hope not. As I've said elsewhere, while I think it's nice for a couple routes to get upgrades here and there I think it's much more important for DTG to create new routes. I think it's ridiculous for single routes to get several upgrades.

I think a better idea would be for DTG from this point onwards to create routes that don't need extensions in the first place.

I highly disagree because i dont want to be stuck with 45 mile routes for the rest of the tsw era. Indeed not every route needs to be created for extending, but even for the ones we have there is a long list.

Gwe to oxford , east coast way, harlem line...

I must admit that whilst being excited for the new extensions that we've got coming, I'm slightly surprised that the Sheerness branch wasn't included as well (or instead of one of the other extensions) given it would make the route a bit more 'cohesive'. Am I also right in thinking that there is some freight traffic from there as well or has that ceased?

EDIT: Although on second thought perhaps given that there is only one train per hour in each direction for most of the day on the branch, it wouldn't have been a particularly good use of development time when we're all shouting out for busier timetables.

I think the age of 45 mile routes is coming to an end however. The new ICE route proves that.

Even so, I'd rather see three 45 mile routes than one 120 mile one.

I agree that GWE would be great to extend though. Heck, if 100 mile routes are on the cards why not go all out to Bristol? Now that would be something special.

Matt has said GWE will never get extended due to its age. That can be put to bed . They'd have to rebuild

Its been stated that it was a choice between the extention to Sheerness or to Dartford. Dartford was chosen due to more traffic like you suggested.

There’s an obvious answer to that then…get on and rebuild it. It’s not like they’re starting from scratch, I’m sure they could have that route licked into shape and extended to Oxford in no time.

Give the people what they want!

ps Also, Matt says a lot of things…

I think it would be worth it, especially if it was updated to modern day with 800s and 387s.

And I don't trust a word that comes out of Matt's mouth. I distinctly remember him saying not long ago that we'd never see unbranded trains in TSW. And then we got the 484...

    DTG published it.

Im sure that DTG provide their third parties with conditions on their content.

The fact is that DTG have allowed unbranded content into TSW, which is something they said would not be a thing.

Isn't that a separate route, and one that goes the old way around instead of via HS1?

In the swirling mist of future DLC's could this ever lead to an Ashford, Ramsgate, Margate, Faversham extension completing SEHS?

I used to, but as time has gone on I’m afraid I have to agree. Sadly a lot of what he says has to be taken with a pinch of salt these days.

The fact is that he still allowed it into the game, and I don't believe he even addressed the fact that he said we wouldn't see unbranded trains during the preview streams, at least to my memory. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I just don't think it's a good look for the head honcho of TSW to backtrack like that, it makes him about as trustworthy as a politician.

Technically the 484 isn't "unbranded;" it carries the Island Line brand. Of course the fictional livery moves that into the fuzzy gray area.

Just to clarify we have not reworked *all* the track from scratch. We have taken the offending bits such as Stratford and the junction between Gravesend and Ebbsfleet where corners were far too tight and smoothed them out. There are other changes, I don't recall what, but it was about making the ride smoother and more aligned with the track speeds rather than jolting you around incorrect corners.

    Matt.

Yes, I think it will have to be as the file structure and names might have changed. I'll be posting it to the Train Sim Community website and then I'll post the link when it's live.

Another route upgrade mod, actually: have you been able to fix the airliner textures on Brighton Main Line?

That was done by me, I actually fixed that not too long ago now, uses an A320 instead of a B737 now, check my thread about that if you want to see more.
