I've been observing the Portsmouth Direct Line route add-on, and I've been noticing a lack of suitable rolling stock from the SR era. So I made this thread to tell you my ideas of suitable rolling stock not just from the SR era, but also the pre-grouping era. Fortunately, a LSWR Carriage Pack is available from Steam Sounds Supreme (https://steamsoundssupreme.com/).
Hi. Those ones look like they're from MSTS. These ones, also from Digital Traction, are newer: http://digitaltraction.co.uk/mainsite/products/lswr-carriage-pack/ Also, Matrix Trains has a set of Maunsell 59ft corridors in green, on the marketplace: https://store.steampowered.com/app/...59ft_Low_Window_Corridor_Coach_Pack_BR_Green/
The LSWR Carriage Pack you've shown me is the same one I mentioned earlier. And the ones made for MSTS can also be made for Train Simulator.
Strange, but fun. I run pre-1942 GWR trains over post-2010 GWR routes all the time for fun. And I don't even mind how old the train is. What matters is how much fun I get out of it.
DTG only make stock + locos for routes you can run trains over - they are unlikely to make a loco and stock for Fun scenarios. You would be better asking Digital Traction for locos & stock.
Unless the gauge has changed it won't matter. Steam trains run on mainlines in the UK as specials so if 05jstone wants to run old stock over new signals, what's the issue?
Trying to recreate the past as it was can also be fun. Granted, it takes a bit of homework, buty that can be fun too…!
DTG produce routes with stock and they produce stock for DTG routes. Virtually every DTG release of an item of stock/loco has come with some scenarios. Can you tell me what Scenario DTG would produce using LSWR stock when there is no LSWR route? What are the chances of DTG releasing a new item - say a LNWR Steam loco and providing a Scenario for West Coast Mainline over Shap? There is nothing to stop US as the players running any train on any route we own - but if DTG were to release a Loco & Stock for a route that it did not run on - or it was the wrong time period then people won't buy it. Which is why I suggested asking Creative Rail - they already have the coaches. Peter
For some this doesn't matter. They want to drive a train rather than have the complete driving experience of an LSWR driver back in the day. To my knowledge nobody is playing TS with a smokebox two feet from them in a dangerous greasebox doing high speed on steel rails... So maybe absolute realism isn't everyone's issue
And the word you use is FORMER. Because you, 05jstone, wish to run a train over a given route that is perfectly fine but for most people they prefer accuracy. Can you imagine the comments if DTG released an version of Riviera in the 50's route and they player train was a HST? People would not buy it because it's factually wrong. So when you run your steam train to Portsmouth which water columns will you fill up at?
