So here I am, I'm back at it again, and yes this will be about Tehachapi Pass. While this route have been the most suggested on the forums, so I thought I do something a little different this time as another loco idea for the right period for this route. Sure, many want it to be modern because of TSC (obviously) and the possibility of seeing more GEVOs now after HSC, but I don't want that for this route as I do want to see something different, not the same era that's already been done time and time again. But, I also know another reason is because of BNSF (even though the line is technically owned by UP, BNSF only have the right of ways on it), since 1. DTG got a new license that works worldwide now since last year. And 2. There haven't been a BNSF route made in TSW, yet. So for a compromise what I'm making in this thread is had the route predate in the late 90s and early 2000s instead, so that way they'll be some early powerful diesels to enjoy before the GEVOs stepped in while still having BNSF to the name, along with UP by any chance (why would you not include UP is the question for sure).

Ah, but what kind of locos would be included for this period, well there are a few that would fit nicely to this route for long haul duties, and this is what I come up with:

    GE C44-9W
    02096871276461252yi81205109789.jpg
    Built: 1993-1996
    Units: 1697 (BNSF)/100 (ATSF)/130 (CNW)/101 (SP)/40 (UP)

The last of the Dash series before the Evolution Series arrived. Now you may be thinking, another AC44 or Dash 8, seriously, which you're not wrong with this one. The Dash 9 is the successor of the Dash 8, while the AC4400CW is technically a Dash 9 with AC traction, as the original is DC. Which would make a perfect fit of a BNSF loco for this route as they ordered a lot of them at the time (not to mention a 100 from ATSF before the merger). And if so, they can also be part of UPs roster as well (mostly from CNW and SP) with a bit of tweaking from each detail they got.

    EMD SD75M/SD75I
    dk054.jpg showimage.jpg
    Built: 1995-1997
    Units: 51 (ATSF-SD75M)/51 (BNSF-SD75I)

The Dash 9s counterpart. While the two SD75s look identical, but their classifications really tells them apart, the 'M' means it's designed with the common North American cab (aka wide cab) like the SD60Ms and such, while the 'I' means the cab is Isolated resulting in a much quieter noise and fewer vibrations in the cab (like the SD70ACe). Which is oddly enough that the Santa Fe bought the SD75Ms while BNSF went for the SD75Is later on, but I ain't judging.

    EMD GP60M/GP60B
    109.jpg BNSF_GP60B_346.jpg
    Built: 1990 (GP60M) 1991 (GP60B)
    Units: 63 (ATSF-GP60M)/ 23 (ATSF-GP60B)

Thought I throw in some Geeps in here to still fit the BNSF theme for the route. And while I already summed up the GP60s in another thread for UP locos (it's buried in there, somewhere), these units were a little more unique as ATSF did want something different for their Super Fleet (like their Dash 8s & 9s, FP45s & SD75Ms) so they went with not only the GP units with a wide cab from EMD, but also some booster units as well.

    UP Locomotives
    Units:
    C40-8/GP40-2/SD60M/SD70M/SD70ACe

And to finish off is some Union Pacific power. Like I said, I already mention some of the units in another thread on what I listed here that would indeed fit well for this time period for this route. Not to mention layered or subbing in to and from other UP routes like Sherman Hill if possible (I'm always open to that option).

And that's my Idea for Tehachapi Pass in another different era. I may throw in other units later on if you want, but this is what I'm going with for now. Nevertheless, I do hope you have enjoyed this suggestion, and do correct me if I made some mistakes in this.

Well, after a bit of a thought, I just realized that I only did the SF side of BNSF (see what I did there), which make sense as ATSF only got the R.O.W on the line before the merger. So might as well see what the former Burlington Northern roster would also fit on Tehachapi Pass, shall we (might not be a whole lot, but might as well do my best).

    EMD SD70MAC
    [IMG]
    Built: 1993-1998
    Units: 311 (BN)/ 475 (BNSF)

    EMD SD60M

    Built: 1989-1991
    Units: 100 (BN)

And for a last resort (which I may know it's gonna happen eventually, gotta love DTG and their reused stock am I right?)
    EMD SD40-2
    bnsf7323.jpg
    7052B.jpg

Not to mention the "Snoot" Nose version
    5022.jpg

Plus, might as well add one more to the list, just for fun.

    EMD SD45-2B
    BNSF_7508_03.jpg
    Built: 1987-1988 (Rebuilt from SD45-2)
    Units: 8 (ATSF)
Who wouldn't love a good booster unit, right?

I'd like to suggest GP50s for UP and BNSF, BNSF GP40Xs, BNSF SD45-2s and SD45s, UP AC6000CWs/C4460ACs, UP SD90MACs/SD90-43MACs, AC4400CWs (both UP and BNSF), and UP SD60s (with the standard cab).

The post merger Era of the late 90s and early 00s were a colorful one, since the paints of their predecessors still roamed the rails well into the 2000s.

Indeed, a perfect mixture of the old meets new at the time, seeing the predecessors like ATSF & BN (Even CNW & SP for UP) in their original liveries with some BNSF patch work of logos alongside with the new liveries going forward. A good compromise for Tehachapi Pass, if I do say so myself.

Not to Burst anyone's bubble on adding new units us Veterans of PC Beta of TSW1 Original Game have been asking since and never had any answer from Dovetail or gotten these units EVER! So asking is like asking Santa for a Bike now a days being Real Life as it may Never Happen. Dovetail keeps spreading it's self out but never fixes its self as to problems at hand now but rather push NEW problems out

Excellent idea all of them will start populating Cajon Pass line with the GP60 found inside the Hump Yards at San Bernadino and Barstow.
Those will be for Sherman Hill and Cane Creek.
