I was going to buy tsw 2 for ps5. When tsw 3 is released can I still play these dlcs with tsw 3? Also if I want to buy some older routes can I still buy them after tsw 3 releases or will I need to buy them for tsw 2 first ?
Yes you can. If you buy DLC from TSW 2 the DLC will be available for you to download on TSW 3 free of charge.
If you still want to keep playing TSW2 after you have bought TSW3 then any dlc’s you still need to buy that are available in both TSW2 and TSW3 should be bought in TSW2 and not TSW3 this way you get both versions, the TSW2 version and the free TSW3 transfer. What you buy in TSW3 won’t be available as a free transfer into TSW2.
They are taking down routes and locos from the older games when TSW3 comes out. The new compatible logo on the TSW3 versions will ensure the routes work across all games (if originally available there). Yes, when you purchase an add-on marked with the Train Sim World Compatible logo you will be able to download it for Train Sim World 2020 and/or Train Sim World 2, so long as the add-on was made for these games (Please check the product description). https://dovetailgames.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/80001033452-train-sim-world-3-faq
The recent sales had TSW2020 Rhein-Rhur Osten at £7.49 and TSW2 RRO at £9.99. I thought of buying the older version, saving £1.50, but realized it gave license for PS4 only, whereas TSW2 licenses for both PS4 and PS5. Nowadays I'm on 5, so didn't buy. Would it carry over to 5?
This is not quite correct. You are right, technically the TSW 2020 DLC only gives you the licence for the PS4 version, but you then get a free upgrade to the PS5 version of it. It's an extra step and requires faffing with the PS Dashboard (Sony make is so much more complex the Microsoft) to claim the right versions in the right order but it's totally doable. I have done it with a large amount of TSW 2020 DLC.
Yes, I thought it'd be okay, but with dlc limits it can wait. I bought TSW collectors last year and moved it up toTSW2, gaining 7 routes (-1) on PS4. All migrated to PS5 now. This was the first time I was buying specifically for PS5 so was alittle unsure. Thanks.
