Are there 2 versions motor of BR401 in real life? The sound in game is different from the one in this video. The motor sound in the video sounds like an instrument

Yes that's true... One with a sound like the Taurus from Austria and one without that stylish scale sound.

One version is the old one is the GTO one which sounds like a taurus and the IGBT is the new one which is currently used

Do you mean the same propulsion as the DB BR182 MRCE BR182 which the community calls a music train.

It's slightly different in terms of the tone and how much it goes up (half stepish). The taurus is more like full steps if you know about music.

It's not the same propulsion, but a similar one. The 401 used to have Siemens SIBAS 16 GTOs, while the ES64U2 uses SIBAS 32 :) The modulation methods implemented and used by both are fairly similar (MPT, FPT, GFT), therefore causing a similar sound. The scale when accelerating is more of a, well artistic decision. They could've easily just used a ramp-up, but that would've either resulted in some unwanted resonating frequencies or harmonics, or the customers didn't like it, the latter being the case for the Taurus ^^

IIRC, the Siemens SIBAS 16 was inherited from the BR 120.

Thanks for the answer and that explains the similar sound between the two

Nope, the ABB thyristor inverters that were initially used on the first batch of 401s were based on the AEG inverters of the 120, the designation is 13SG01b. They initially used MICAS :) The SIBAS 16 is, at least for the GTO version, only used in the TCUs, therefore being quite different compared to the 120. The GTO and IGBT version still use MICAS till this day too, in combination with custom TCUs.
