https://www.golden-age-developments.co.uk/glorious-devon.html This just released and along with Wycombe Joint Line v5. Are two routes better than all the rubbish DTG releases.
The GD1958 team, and GAD, have been very careful and checked as much as is possible is working correctly before releasing the route. Such care attention to detail is commendable. DTG could learn a lesson from that ‼️
Very welcome buddy. Disappointed with GD 1958, too much line side vegetation for the era. Trackside fencing at the bottom of cuttings and the top of embankments. Telegraph poles placed outside the railway boundary. No idea why EWS & Freightliner 08's are needed in 1958 era scenarios, plus some other modern stuff i can't recall. The route dependencies also omit to mention the need for the JT Common files and ukts fp vegetation pack.
Despite not really feeling much for kettles (hey I wasn't born until the middle 1980s) I do like the Wycombe Joint Line, given that I lived in High Wycombe for yonks and ponder the rail options that once existed from HW. I sometimes run first gen diesel units on it in the sim, and the occasional Western with AP sound pack. Very good route build.
I have a feeling V5 is still a beta release, I can't find it now but I sure I read something somewhere which suggested he was still working on V5.
One of the original builders of this route Mike Traves lost his fight against Cancer in February https://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?f=361&t=154188&p=1891157 This also on UKTS "I have officially started work on the next release which is such a relief for me. The future version will be call GD1958 Glorious Devon BR(S) BR(W). I am researching the Plymouth Launceston Branch to complete this route. This was Mikes intention to work on this section for Justgeoff. Geoff worked at the milk factory at Lifton so the route has special meaning for him. The route has been added in this release from Marsh Mills to Ply Bridge. Also from the tunnel south of Whitchurch to Lydford so can be driven. All the track is complete from Plymouth to Lydford in the master and I will work on this section. Mike did the scenery do I have a lot to get my head around and the branch will be a great introduction to buildings. Hope you all enjoy the release of GD1958. Regards Ausc"
It was originally released as a "preview" version. But that description seems to have been removed from the site. I would have paid money for it, if it was a preview for a payware release. Head and shoulders above anything else route wise, for quality and mileage.
