Shortly after the release of Nahverkehr Dresden about a year ago, the ability for the DB BR 182 to operate passenger services was removed due to a game-breaking bug preventing it from correctly operating the wagon doors (as seen in this forum post). The community was promised the BR 182 substitutions would be re-enabled after the issue was resolved. This bug with the BR 182 was fixed in the recent Rapid Transit preservation crew update a few months ago (as seen in this forum post). However, passenger services for the 182 have not been re-enabled on Nahverkehr Dresden as of yet. I really hope we can get the BR 182 passenger services back on Nahverkehr Dresden. It should theoretically just be a simple box to tick given that the substitution was already completely set up and working before having to be removed due to the aforementioned issue with the loco that has now been fixed. It would significantly increase the attractiveness of the BR 182… a unique locomotive which deserves more than just the freight substitutions it can do on most routes. Summary: The DB BR 182 passenger service layer/substitution on Nahverkehr Dresden was removed shortly after launch due to a bug with the locomotive. This issue has now been fixed, so the layer/substitution should be able to to be activated again. I have also sent a ticket to DTG Support regarding this topic (#48546).
Quick update: If you want more proof the problem has been fixed than just the patch notes, I’ve got it! The issue also prevented the AI-only BR 182 passenger services on Tharandter Rampe from working, as noted here on the forums by Joe (conversation is visible on his profile page). I loaded up Tharandter Rampe after the update, and the BR 182 AI worked flawlessly!
Why would you play with BR 182 in TSW2. Almost all sounds are missing (except for motor sounds) and it sounds atrocious compared to TSW2020. I really doubt that has been fixed, just like the trains on LIRR in TSW2.
I really can’t comprehend why you come into this with such a negative attitude? I’ve been playing around with the BR 182 for a few days now, and it’s been making me really happy.
Good idea but DTG can fix that by making an OBB route that has 182 cousins 1016 1116 then have them compatible with Deutsche Bahn Dostos 767.2 766.2 780 785 (Hamburg Lubeck and NRW routes the correct models for them are 781 786 dosto)
Then you are not noticing anything wrong when a 80 tone vehicle does not produce any running sound while running on a metal track. You did not play the BR182 in TSW2020 or HRQ/RWA version in TSC to get an idea how it should sound like did you? Even my HQ scale 182 produces more sound running on the tinny rails than TSW2 version. This is not about being picky, it's about completely missing sounds and breaking any immersion.
Surely being able to choose to drive it is more important? Sounds broken or not, people will want to drive it if they want to. They don't need to, but they should be given the choice.
Exactly what dbrunner#4864 wrote. I would so so much like to drive 182, but I simply cannot, there is no running sound, apart from a few fans, it is running SILENT. I can't comprehend why this wasn't fixed yet and most probably never ever will, like 99% of things DTG messes up from the start or later during "fixing" other stuff.
The original title of the thread is more important than ever now! All of the BR 182’s issues have been fixed for ages (for example, it works perfectly as S-Bahn AI on Dresden-Chemnitz). With TSW4, the Dresden-Riesa timetable is now being modified to include the Vectron services, so this would be the perfect time to “flick the switch” and re-enable the BR 182 passenger layer. Sincerely hope DTG Matt can do something here!
You can use the BR182 already for a few RE50 Services, but I would still find it better on the S1. If you are about to open the Timetable, could you please also add the Railpool BR 185.6 from Dresden-Chemnitz as an Substitution. DTG Matt
Are you sure the 182 is already available for a few passenger services on DRA in TSW3? I feel like we would have noticed that change. Do you have a mod installed by chance? Anyways, the “home” of the BR 182 and the focus of the original layer it had on the route were the S-Bahn services, so it would be great to see it in action there again.
Speaking of timetables, I have a question: are the timetables being revisited for TSW4? Right now, there's precious little time to set up a train. I am now driving an S1 service, the first one in Journey Chapter 5. It started at 4:43 and I needed to be in Meissen at 4:46, driving from ~3km away. Then I had exactly one minute to change ends, and then arrive at Meissen-Altstadt at 4:49:39. One more thing here: this train has a 143 at one end and a 146 at the other end, with 3 Dostos in between. Funky!
Update: I just had a look at my Dresden-Riesa timetable, and the 182 indeed shows up as playable on the RE50 services! This must have been a very sneaky (re-)addition as nobody has mentioned this until now except for bobbobberdd of course. I wonder how long this has gone unnoticed? There’s obviously still the case of adding it to the S-Bahn services, as per real life and its AI presence on Dresden-Chemnitz. Since Matt stated he’s looking at the timetable, maybe we’ll get a nice surprise with TSW4’s release!
