DID JD drop a bombshell? When asked Will there be any Eurostar Trains Matt & JD Simultaneously answered. Matt Said No. JD said Not at the moment and then appeared to realise his mistake with a sharp intake of breath!! No worries if you did or didn't to be honest. :P https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxG5wPxuIirtZ-SE2trzMclMSQ5i7iE5s8
"Not at the moment" will be the new "not on the roadmap", and neither of them will give any indication of whether or not something is in active development.
They say “not at the moment” quite often in response to questions/suggestions/requests. Plus, it would make no sense for Eurostar from a PR standpoint to let DTG implement their trains with Ashford-London services as they aren’t stopping there right now in real life. First, it was because of the pandemic. Now, Eurostar is seemingly using that as a continued excuse to avoid having to stop at Ashford, possibly for another 2-3 years. Releasing these services in TSW would almost certainly lead to bad press. I can already imagine the headlines: “Eurostar won’t be stopping at Ashford until 2025 - but you can now do so in a video game!” Edit: And there’s the official “it ain’t happening” from Matt, directly above my comment!
Eurostar are owend by thalys now so maybe things may change at some point in the distant future. As for a channel tunnel route; I'm not too sure. It's sounds good on paper but something about being stuck in a tunnel at a set speed for 30 mins just looking at the same tunnel "scenery" doesn't sound inviting.
Of course anything is possible in the future. Just as BNSF happened. But for right now, it's not on any plans, and not being pursued as an option for a future plan either
Probably a good thing it's not on the cards, otherwise you guys would be clamoring for the Channel Tunnel and track all the way up to and including the Gare du Nord.
On the other hand, I imagine it'd be really easy to develop that bit - at least as far as scenery is concerned. I can't think of an easier way to say "look at how long we made a route!"
"And we are also happy to announe that there is no performence difference between 8th and 9th gen consoles! (at least not until you'll leave the tunnel)"
There’s already a regular gimmie pig posting in the Suggestions forum who seems to think it’s a done deal! As I mentioned in that thread, I would actually prefer the old pre Eurostar line that ran down from Calais via Boulogne and Amiens to Paris than another high speed run.
Poor guy is never going to live that down....props to making reference to it in those dev diarys though
Same for me, I've had enough when I get halfway through Standedge Tunnel on NTP. If a Channel route ever did get created, I'd prefer a cut down version, say 5mins max in the tunnel.
I hope we do get Eurostar one day I know its not everyones cup of tea going at highspeed for long distances but something about doing even St Pancras - Lille Europe would be cool! One day....
I think JD's "Not at the moment" comment was along the lines of "Not now or in the near future, but who knows in 10 years" rather than a leak of something being worked on. Also, does the Eurostar stop in the UK? I thought it was non-stop from London to France.
Pre covid yes, they stopped at Ebbsfleet & Ashford so a 2019 timetable if it was done they would stop.
They also stop at St Pancras, which is in the UK last time I looked. If they didn’t, things would become… problematic.
lol. Not at the moment is pretty standard corporate talk for, we are doing it right now but maybe in the future. I can't believe we have a thread that forced Matt to intervene . This is why we need Sam back in the streams.
