TSW2 menu was infamous for pushing modern GPUs to max and no, this had nothing to do with FPS because the same thing happened with Vsync enabled and FPS set to 30 or 60 in the driver. Most people probably did not notice are care but something like this should be fixed since it consumes energy for no reason! The menu could easily overheat your GPU DTG JD Was this fixed with the new UI in TSW3? This bug was reported to DTG long ago and it was said they are looking into it
my fps is capped at 60 and vsync is on too i have no problems in the menu is always on 60 like i set it.
Since the interface has been rewritten I would assume there was no need to carry that bug forward. Trusting JD will confirm it's absence shortly.
What caused this was the player avatar showing on the route select screen. There was a mod released which removed it which immediately reduced the GPU usage. From what I have seen of the TSW3 UI, there is no silly avatar so there should be no issues
I can certainly see this issue also depending on settings, especially resolution. But no way should a menu get GPUs worked up to 100% even if on 2k or 4k resolution. It was reported by countless AMD GPU users. And even my Xbox fans got crazy already in the menu Waiting for JD to confirm this issue has been fixed in TSW3
Matt's just sent me a shot of his GPU being at 36.2% when on the loading screen, so I would assume this is no longer an issue.
Can confirm, I've spent most of my time with TSW3 in the menus and my XBox has not made the classic TSW2 attempt to reach escape velocity.
How on earth is a menu using 36% of a GPUs power? It's insane that you're rendering anything other than static images in the background. In TSW2 you're rendering a station scene as well as the loco as you're choosing it and the journey you want. Why? Just why? What a monumental waste of power. Hopefully we can get a toggle for it in future updates to TSW3.
