I was watching The Train Guy 4's review livestream on TSW3, and here is some notes me and others have noticed during the ride. Overall gameplay Lighting still looks a little off, and seems way too bright in places. HUD is still the exact same. Iris dilation is rather straining, feels more like you're a camera, not a pair of eyes, taking away from immersion and isn't very good if you have a headache. Only 9 new stations. Volumetric skies are clear most of the time. Weather changes are sudden. Clouds appear. Same flat texture with terrible ballast slapped on top is still seen. Upgrades and updates to routes are only available in TSW3, and TSW2 misses out on these. I am very sure that Dovetail is going to just forget about TSW2, just like they did with TSW2020. Kassel-Wurzburg The weird fade to darkness on the coaches in TSW2 is still seen. The route choice could've been better, as I'm not sure that many people would enjoy the fact that the train basically drives itself through tunnels by enabling LZB. Sifa applies emergency brakes that cannot be released, where it should be a full brake application, that can be accepted and released. 2d grass and trees are close to the track and fully in view. Iris shrinking and expanding effect when viewing another dark tunnel after coming out of one makes the next tunnel lighter. A few iconic ICE 1 sounds are not in game. Route is rather uninteresting, there isn't much to do, constantly just going into tunnels and out of tunnels, only to go back into another. Only three stations. The ICE 1 looks ok, and is modelled well, but sounds and route subtract from that. A poll was run, and around 70% of the viewers voted the route was 1-2 on a scale up to 4. Cajon Pass Some crossing lights don't flash. Dynamic brake is difficult to operate. Not much action regarding dynamic weather. Scenery is actually pretty nice, and it's a challenging route, however, not many good or bad things to say about it. The poll was run, and most went for 3-4 out of 4 Southeastern Highspeed Not too many bad things can be said, however eye dilation is still a problem. Tunnel rendering isn't too good. Yards are actually pretty good, decently full, and the car wagons look good. St. Pancras is a little on the unmodelled side, but I understand you aren't really supposed to access it. The extended route is better, the catenery tension configuration is done well, I'd say this is the best of the three routes. The poll also was in the 3-4 region. I'm lenient on how good TSW3 is, but the bugs and fixes will need to be resolved before I will recommend it to anyone. It's slightly disappointing and just feels like another cashgrab by Dovetail. I recommend waiting until something is done about these bugs, and maybe consider buying either the american or british editions of TSW3
Later, I'll provide an update when we look at some more parts of the game, but for now, these are just mine and others views on the game. If you feel you'd like to buy TSW3, you may want to research more and form your own opinion on the ups and downs of the game.
How come? I think the dynamic brake is normal and controllable like one on the Sherman Hill's SD70ACe
(I am TheTrainGuy4) From a surface level test (performed by somebody who had at the time precisely 15 minutes of driving experience) there was no change in sound with the motor blowers on or off. The dynamic brake is not super hard to use, but it's slightly tedious if paired with the auto brake. Man driving down to San Bernadino was a challenge! SEHS looks alright, St Pancras is still very lacklustre though. This is not good enough for a level crossing.
Yeah, the whole pass itself doesn't look very good overall, probably the weakest point scenery wise of the route. This is what that crossing looks like IRL.
I don't people don't understand what dynamic weather mean. Clearly most of yall have ever played the F1 games. Not every race has it's weather changing
