Playing around with SPG now on TSW3 and right away noticed the BNSF SD40-2 is appearing in AI consists. That isn’t realistic… BNSF SD40s wouldn’t make it out that far on CSX lines… this is the same issue that used to happen with Union Pacific SD40s on SPG which was finally fixed recently.
SD40s aren’t used for foreign power on mainlines for years. They do local work and yard work on their home lines. It would make more sense to have the ES44 there if that was the case. Foreign power is a cool thing to include in the game but they need to fine tune it a bit. Only the big mainline locos should do it (out of what’s currentlj in game: AC44, SD70, C40-8W, ES44), and it should be relatively rare enough that the home routes locos appear way more often. For example a few months ago when lots of substitutes were enabled on SPG you’d spawn into Cumberland and see just as much UP locos as CSX including UP SD40s doing yard work. That was waaaaay off. Cumberland would always be primarily CSX locos with the odd foreign unit appearing here or there, and never SD40 or GP38s.
As stated above, the SD40-2 is no longer a mainline locomotive, if these routes were pre-2000s, you would have a point, bit these routes are all set past 2010. In which most Class 1s keep their SD40-2 to either yard or local work.
I like it even if it's not realistic. Anything to break up the current monotony on US Freight consists is a good thing IMO, even though it's a bigger issue with the rolling stock than the locos. Do any of the BNSF freight cars sub in on SPG or any other US Freight route?
I would assume Oakville Sub but that's it. Car subbing is still broken so it's only allowed on Oakville.
It's already enough that the another SD40 is used for Cajon Pass, and now it's subbed on SPG like the others before this one. This is getting ridiculous now.
