All the routes I have currently on my PS5 have layers missing due to Sony’s slow roll out of TSW compatible routes. We should get some more soon but I’m still wondering how I’m going to wrangle all the routes necessary for layers when all the routes are available until the DLC manager fixes the PS5 DLC limit. Prior to TSW3 releasing I had removed German routes and managed to keep all other routes that have layers working fully with their necessary ‘feeder’ routes installed. Even that approach isn’t going to be possible in TSW3 due to all routes being removed from the core and now counting towards the limit and new bigger routes being released. I’m not going to be able to keep a standard set now and will have to swap and change to get the most out of new routes. It will be a pain but there might be a way to help me with this. What would be very handy now is a published list from DTG of exactly what content adds layers to each route and also possibly what substitutions are allowed on each route. This is the kind of information that should be easily available but has always been spread around release articles or not published at all and found by trial and error. I know there was a community made document showing this information in the past but not sure if that is up to date now. If there is an updated list or DTG have actually already made such a list somewhere I would appreciate a link as I may have missed them. It’s not been particularly rewarding playing the small number of routes I have in TSW3 knowing there should be more traffic on the routes and more drivable services in some. I don’t want TSW3 to continue to be so difficult to get the most from once all the routes and loco DLC are finally released by Sony but I feel it’s going to be a logistical nightmare until the DLC manager is finally out.
This is absolutely necessary. If it's already complicated for those of us who have been playing for several years, I can't imagine what it will be like for a new customer. Between the layers and the multitude of versions of the same train to choose from, it's getting really chaotic. Since DTG seems to be unable to fix the damn DLC limit problem on ps5 for now, please at least make an official listing to make our lives a little easier.
I‘m pretty disappointed also. I was looking forward to the DLC Manager more than I was TSW3 so I only bought the German Route for Playstation as there was little point in buying addons I can't play. My long term goad now is to switch to XBOX instead of Playstation / Steam. Now that the XBOX PC version works properly with all the DLC as well as console (and progress syncs between them) it's an easier decision. Just seems like Sony wants to make things too difficult. I'll miss the sales on PS / Steam though.
It's disappointing that the DLC manager is not in yet but I would prefer it not game breaking as that's the reason for it not being out yet
On top of this, DTG should use this opportunity to start anew. Release trains from needing a specific route. Tie them all to the training centre if they need a base route as everyone has that. Keep only the latest model and discard all the countless variations of Dostos and 143’s etc
I mentioned it in another thread but I wish there was some way for DTG to let us install the game 3 times… have a “German/Europe edition” so you can install TSW + 64gb of German routes, a “UK edition” that lets you install TSW + 64gb of UK routes, and the American/Canadian edition where you can install TSW + 64gb of American DLC. That would pretty much allow you to have all DLC installed in 3 separate sandboxes where all the layering and substitutions would match with the correct routes. As much as I can’t wait for the DLC manager I’m also slightly worried that it won’t work properly. Installing and uninstalling DLC is annoying but at least it’s workable.
I'll tell you, if PC/Steam had these download/capacity problems that are afflicting PS5 players, I'd be spending my time somewhere other than on TSW. I simply wouldn't have the patience to deal with it. I know it's not DTG's fault, but it's a dreadful situation for you guys, nonetheless. You have my sympathy.
