I hope to get the Save function back again soon because of the moments when real life collides with simulation.

You’re in good company with that sentiment.

I’m hoping we will get some progress update from DTG before long, this is an issue where they need to keep the customers fully informed. However the whole lot of them seem to have gone into radio silence mode the last three or four days.

I think DTG should provide us with a weekly update on progress. I can understand they do not dare to mention a date when it will be fixed, but I would like at least to see that work is done.

I still hope the stubborn guys change their mind and give the save back, even though it has its issues.

Same here Rudolf. As noted UUU seems to have given up for me and even when it works it’s a bit of a chore as you have to keep a Notepad document open with the commands ready to copy and paste into the console.

I'm limiting myself to runs that I'm confident I can finish in less than an hour. Unfortunately, this eliminates some of my favorite routes, like SPG and, now, many services on Cajon Pass, on TSW3.

This really was such a wrong headed decision on the part of DTG, followed by that inflexible response to the many requests to keep the save game in play until they fix it.

To ignore a problem for years and then suddenly deny players one of the most important features in the game is really irritating, to put it mildly.

My other fear is that at some point the narrative will change and that working to get the save game back in TSW3 will change to, that the game was sold as is and bought by players without a save function and therefore you got what you paid for. :(

I also have that fear. It's happened before, with the Clinchfield lighting and banking comms, and the Rush Hour passengers on BML, to name just two instances of abandoned commitments.

I found this comment in the Steam forums:

These people that say to make time to finish the game dont have a life. From what I heard is that the save feature is getting fixed up so hopefully we can save our games and get back to playing after work or dealing with kids.

When are you really listening DTG? How many more complaints do you need? Every day we see people ask where the game save is gone.

I must admit what's rattled me about this save game function is also losing the "return to last objective " point.

it's basically back to a restart for everything.

It’s unfortunate that we have to beg them to restore something they should have never removed.

The save game function was removed because it wasn't functioning as intended, but we do hear the feedback that having it gone completely feels worst.

Alex the problem is despite it's problems it routinely saves us frustration more than it causes us pain. Overall the feedback shows that. It's great that fixing it is a priority. If the fix were due in the next week or two the pleas for the current version's return wouldn't be so loud. However Matt said very clearly he couldn't give a timeline. That's quite understandable. I think it's important that your team be given the time needed to fix it and fix it right (like you did when you fixed the jackhammering sound issue). Restoring the save in it's current state would give you the time that you need while giving us the safety net we need and want. Losing 90 mins of progress because of a crash or mistake we make with no way to restore other than to the very beginning is frustrating.

    Hear, hear!!
As you said, if it were a matter of a week or maybe two until we have the fix and a working save game... ok.
    Everyone could live with that.
BUT if we are honest, the speed in which DTG fixes issues is not... let's just say, it's not so great.
And going weeks or even months without a save game option is NOT acceptable!

So if DTG thinks this is suddenly so important (after ignoring the issue for years!) they should have either started earlier or postpone the release of TSW3.
Of course, that would not happen. And they also did not listen to the pleas of the many players to at least leave it as it is for now until it is fixed. :(
But now going radio silent and leaving all customers in the dark for weeks since admitting they cut the save function is absolutely not OK!!!

Sorry, but that just isn't true for a great many of us. A reading of the posts on this issue shows that it has saved many of us countless hours and unnecessary frustration.

    Please, bring it back ASAP.

Thank you for coming in the thread and responding Alex. May I repeat the plea voiced by others, that if the new save game is not imminent that steps are taken to restore the old system with any necessary disclaimers. It is just not good to have a game with many runs even on the new routes in excess of an hour and no way to come off and at least hopefully resume the run at another time. Please help Matt and whoever else was involved in the decision to see sense and execute a U-turn.

I'm guessing the restart from last checkpoint is connected to the save game, if it isn't whoever removed that piece of the game had their pipe and hip flask well and truly stocked up before making the call on that. This was not decision supported by logic if they are independent of one another, though I suspect they are not.

The other thing to note is that restart from last checkpoint was never broken, unlike save game. I never had a single issue finishing runs that I had to go back to a previous checkpoint.

Just to add my voice. I too want the Save Game back in it's former state. It didn't always work, but most of the time it did. Please just put it back in the next update. I think the reason Matt gave was that it would be confusing to new users continuing with the broken save, but it seems to be far more frustrating for both new and current users to have it missing.

It’s disappointing that there has been no movement from DTG on this . They read these threads and can see that the massive majority of us want the old save back for now . Annoyed that it could “confuse new users “ with no thought for us loyal long time users . You’ve got our money already.
I’m really enjoying TSW3 a lot it’s just that the lack of saving is a massive downer , along with the continued lack of progress with the PS5 fix , which recently celebrated its first anniversary of not being fixed .
My big worry is that neither of these issues will be fixed during TSW3 but will become a selling point for TSW4 . I do hope I’m wrong though

If they could find a way to give console users that option too, it would be very welcome, alongside a working Save.

DTG Alex and the other community managers are all good guys and well meaning, but the most they can do is pass on our concerns to the powers that be and, so far, that's a cul-de-sac.

There's no doubt it has/had problems but given DTG kicked the can down the road for give years, you do have to wonder why all of a sudden they pulled it.
