Up until recently I've been a Steam (PC) and Playstation 5 player. But I've resented paying for DLC twice on the 2 different platforms (even though both have regular sales and I don't recall paying full price for many if any of them).

A while ago I tried the TSW2 version on Gamepass on Console. It worked fine so I bought it, including Rush Hour, in a Sale. I was pretty disappointed to find out that the Rush Hour routes did not show up in the PC Verision and DTG's helpdesk just pointed me at instructions that relied upon you being able to download the DLC, which I couldn't. So I abandoned the idea and went back to Playstation / Steam.

When TSW3 came along, I thought I'd try again and apart from the first week, where pretty much nothing showed up for PC, it's been a much better experience. To start with, I installed the gamepass version and I'm pleased to say, it picked up all my previous DLC on both PC and XBOX (except Tharandter Rampe which I had bought in a rare XBOX sale) so I was hopeful.

The next experiment was to run some timetables on both PC and Console and see if the progress syncs between the two. It does. So long as I fully exit whichever version I last played, it syncs up to the cloud and my progress switches between the two.

So I'm pretty happy at the moment. From now on I shall play on the XBOX Versions. Of course this will mean buying my favourite DLC's again and the chances of them popping up in a sale are are almost 0% but given that any new DLC will only have to be bought once to use on both platforms, I'm prepared to do that.

I'm also very disillusioned with Sony. The 64gb limit is in my opinion unnecessary. It should be up to me how much DLC I want to install. I was also quite annoyed at the rollout of TSW3 DLC. Whilst 3 weeks isn't long to wait, it was a somewhat last minute disappointment. Given similar disappointments with other Sony products, I won't miss them. My PS5 has been demoted to playing my collection of Lego Games from PS4.

So how has the playing experience been? I actually prefer to play on Series X. My PC has a much higher frame rate and I can play on Ultra and hit a contant 60fps quite comfortably. My XBOX varies framerate wise, on the new routes it's between 40 and 60 most of the time. On Legacy Routes it's mostly 60fps. The stutters are there on both versions. I've grown used to them, they are no better or worse on XBOX than they were on Playstation. Pop in of trees is definitely more noticeable on the Console than the PC version.

So I'm happy with my setup now. In future I will buy only XBOX versions and am optimistically hoping for an XBOX sale (though I won't hold my breath) to fill in some of my favourite routes. Only thing is that my progress is back to virtually 0. But I'm not honestly that bothered about Progress or Achievments and it won't take long to start building it again.

My favourite feature in all of this though is Cloud Gaming. I used to love it on TSW2 and it's just as good on TSW3. So once again I can drive a train on my way to work!

Very useful information. I've been planning on trying out the PC version due to the multiple graphical issues on XSX. Current TSW3 route console performance just won't cut it for me going forward.
