Open right hand side doors.....close left hand side doors (3min 20sec onwards)
    That's helpful

I keep getting an alarm from the KVB changing from blank to 00 and applying the brakes but it will not acknowledge when the alarm sounds. Why is it doing this and how do you stop it from stopping the train?

Double zeros means 30 km/h max and triple zeros means 10 km/h max. You cannot aknowledge the alarm, you have to slow your train down.

I can't tell when it is about to happen, it seems to be random.

It only shows what speed circumstances are but it is not possible to know as it is not under the official speed limit so the brakes are applied if it is randomly lower than the driven speed.

With KVB, knowing the speed limit is your job, it won't tell you what is the maximum.

these may help from an independent source (not an ambassador either) (Class 395 guide) (KVB signalling)

In this case, it could be a bug from Dovetail Games side! I don't have any other idea of what it can be...

Where is the speed limit? It doesn't have to be this train, I'm talking in general.
I'm sorry, but I'm not sure where to put this post. Thank you.

If you have a look at the HUD (the information in the bottom right of the screen) the circular part acts as the "speedometer". On the outside of this is a line which shows the current line speed (the speed limit of the line that you're on measured from the REAR of the train)
When you're below this the speed line shown on the speedo will be white
If you're just above (within 5mph or kmph depending on the line setting) then it goes yellow
If you're going faster than this then it turns red

Mind you, on some UK routes there are split speed limits: a faster one for passenger trains or MUs, and a slower one for freight or for loco-hauled. Older TSW routes often can have the speedo pinned to the higher limit even if the lower one applies to the train you're driving, so look out for the speed boards! (round white signs with red borders on the left side of the track, or on old routes cutout metal numbers painted yellow)

    Than you

    Not to go off-topic, but
Do you guys list to music?
I was playing around with the audio, but I can't list to any music and some of these freight trains are a long journey, and it gets boring.

Activate the safety systems. Enjoy the music of the DSD/DVD/AWS/TPWS. See here what they all mean.

I'm looking for your help, but I'm having trouble finding it.
I have tried every setting, but I cannot find the setting you are referring to. Furthermore, I also read the page you recommended.

    Can you help me?
    Thanks

Depending on the train you are using, there are switches in the cab that activate the safety systems. In Electrostars (BR Class 375, 377 & 387), they are located to the right of the assistant seat. In the Javelin (395), they are behind you, etc. Tell me witch DLCs do you have and I will be able to tell you exactly where these are located.

    Oh... that changes things...
So, the safety systems I mentioned are UK only. I thought you're playing UK routes, since you posted in a thread about a UK train.
Looks like ChaseYUL99 thought the same, as he is also talking about UK trains.

On German routes, there are 2 safety systems: SIFA and PZB.
To learn how these systems work and how to activate them in your preferred train, you have two options. There are tutorials and manuals you can read, for example this is the manual for Rapid Transit. Another source of information are YouTube videos.

On Luzern - Sursee, there is a tutorial specifically for the safety system use: ETCS.

On the DB BR 442 (including DB BR 1442) (Available on Koln-Aachen, Dresden and Rapid Transit routes), the switches are behind you on a board right next to the door separating the cab and the passenger space. There are 2 safety systems to activate: Sifa and PZB.

On the ICE 3 (including ICE 3M) (Available on Koln-Aachen and Munchen routes), you have to open a panel at your right a bit behind you. There are 3 safety systems to activate: Sifa, PZB and LZB.

On the DB BR 423 (in Munchen route) the switches are at your left. Activate Sifa, PZB and LZB.

On the Traxx locos (DB BR 146 and 185) (in Dresden route), The switches are behind you.

On the DB BR 143 (Dresden), you have to go in the corridor, the same you use to enter the loco.

On the DB BR 363, The Sifa switch is directly in front of you and the PZB switch is to the front right of the assistant seat behind a little cover.

    German safety systems small explanation:

Sifa: Vigilance system. Verify that you are alive by requiring you to press a button every 30 seconds.
PZB: Use magnets on the ground. You have to acknowledge the presence of a signal other than "clear" and have to follow its indication, or the system will stop the train (very hard to master).
LZB: Mostly for high speed trains, it replaces the physical fixed signal by showing precisely the next speed reduction or stop.

I hope it will help :)

Could someone please post or point to a detailed guide to the KVB unit in the Javelin? The LGV manual is little help here because the 395's unit does not behave the same way, in fact most of the controls are disabled. I don't even get a display on the unit, even though the system is on (and most decidedly kill-brakes me).

Also, is there ANY indication when TVM has switched off and handed over to KVB? In Germany, LZB is at least nice enough to warn you.

Just as in the TGV, you should get the "dashes", if KVB is taking over (what ttbomk only happens in the St Pancras and Ashford station areas, if KVB is enabled). Altogether it is not so different from what it does on the TGV.
Dunno if this is what you are looking for, but this is what I can contribute from my stash:
    KVB on Javelin
    KVB at St Pancras
KVB on Javelin penalty brake and recovery

All right, after a little replay it turns out that at Ashford, KVB takes over literally seconds in front of an unsigned 40 kmh/25 mph limit, giving you essentially zero time to react (or even notice that the near-invisible orange dashes have come on, with no "6" or anything else.

Well, even more so than ACSES or GNT and unlike LZB or ETCS FS, KVB is just controlling, not guiding the driver.
