Yesterday I bought the retail key of TS2017. But sadly the south wales route, which should include in the game, is changed to an assets pack. Thus I can not play this route. As far as i know, this DLC was released twice later on so that the original version was actually closed. I think the new version is added freely but I cannot receive it. Is there any method to obtain a playable south wales route?
Firstly, the "South Wales Coastal Bristol to Cardiff" (Arriva Trains Wales Branded version) is what was supplied with the TS2017 route however I can't verify that it is still available to download as I already owned it. Secondly, The original South Wales Coastal was released as two separate DLCs, this was "South Wales Coastal Bristol to Cardiff" and later "Cardiff to Swansea" was released, with the TS2017 bundle you would only get "South Wales Coastal Bristol to Cardiff" but unfortunately you would have needed to own both of these to qualify for the new Unbranded "South Wales Coastal" as it was a merge of the two routes. Thirdly, The only way to play South Wales Coastal (if like you say the Bristol to Cardiff with TS2017 no longer works) is to purchase the New unbranded version https://store.steampowered.com/app/...h_Wales_Coastal_Bristol__Swansea_Route_Addon/
It seems DTG have made it impossible to get the original route even with old steam keys. The depot has been modified - the route itself is not part of the package anymore, only the assets... interesting. As the difference between South Wales Main Line and the two separate old routes is only the brandings, you've got all you need - even the scenarios were the same. You can now edit your scenarios to use the trains from DTG\BristolCardiff. Why they dumped the route is not fully clear to me at the moment... seems to be a technical reason. As you cannot remove a depot from Steam - only modify it - this also means if you have the original route you won't be able to retrieve it again using a file verification. Intriguing.
Heh. A good reminder that everything that is stored in a cloud and not on your computer is subject to changes. Back your stuff up sdowne Contact DTG support. You should get the free full unbranded "South Wales Mainline". They'll send you a key if you can prove your purchase (steam appmanifest will do).

Now Dovetail's support gives me a key to activate "Bristol to Cardiff Contents". Then I can play the route as normal.
Glad you got that sorted by appealing to DTG's goodwill. As Reef pointed out correctly, the unbranded South Wales Mainline will be free of charge if you own both the original Bristol-Cardiff and the Swansea expansion.
