Watching the live stream tonight, am I the only one thinking that the spray demonstrated on stream was (I say this kindly) absolutely pathetic looking? I've seen more water spraying out of a handheld water spray. Given that we get considerably more particle effects from both snow and steam, why has the water VFX suffered so much? The fact that the camera had to go right up close to it to see anything happening at all says it all... The audio coming off the RHTT spray is also far too quiet. This is a comparison to what we saw in stream to how it is in real life: Here is a video of how it's supposed to sound
Yeah, I thought that, have they never seen the real thing? Its not like they cant do the particle effect these days.
I don’t get it. I was expecting more. Something similar to the snow kicking up effect was what I was actually expecting. It looked more like one of the new rain drop splashes in the stream. Otherwise I think it is a good addition to the route.
To be frank, the whole pack is a disappointment, but then I guess it's not actually intended for us. DTG have said it's aimed at newer users. With that in mind you'd think they go all out to impress them and make them keep coming back for more. Anyone with a passing knowledge of RHTT are going to be expecting so much more than what is delivered.
I found it a bit embarrassing to watch. If they're going to make something they should do it properly and not half hearted. If they can't do it properly then they shouldn't don't bother. Disappointing package all round imo
I'm going to chalk this up to it being bugged and assuming they'll fix it at some point post release.
I watched it and was underwhelmed. I get that want to use their assets and time commercially but this is where I’m at. class 66, I have loads with different liveries, this has a new consist and a remote control. We have snow particles, kick ups, steam particles and then the equivalent of a 60yr olds mid night dribble coming from this….. View the majesty of the RHTT at full pressure below. I honestly came away from that stream more pleased to see Matt and JD for an hours viewing rather than having an interest in paying for a gameplay pack when I still don’t have my extra journeys one on 3.
I'm remind of TS Classic. some locos, mainly the SD40T-2 come to mind, had a snow effect when you were up to speed. It didn't look amazing or anything, but it's much more pronounced, white coloring aside that's probably closer to how the water spray effect should look.
I'd probably be more inclined if I felt I was getting something different in the game play. This is juts couple different wagons, a reskin of the 66 and no change in physical adhesion on the rails or anything from what i took away so I have to ask myself this. Is it really different? Do you see a cleaning effect or adhesion difference on the rails? If no to the above please pass go and keep your ÂŁ11.99
If it come with the class 73 the only locos I've ever seen hauling the RHTT on sehs I might be more inclined to buy it, as for the spray effect, I think maybe if it was done better it might be a massive hit on performance?
I think it's just water. These trains pass a lot of stations, I doubt the commuters would be to happy getting covered in unknown chemicals.
The DLC in question is ÂŁ4.99 and not the ÂŁ11.99 stated above. It's less than the price i was paying last night for a pint of beer
I believe so. High pressure water jet. Not sure if Sandite or similar is then applied these days, think it fell out of favour.
The latest research is being done by Sheffield Uni using dry ice pellets and will be able to be done by normal service trains rather than RHTTs. https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/news/leaf-busting-tech-could-end-rail-delays-caused-leaves-line
Agree with the comments on the spray - asked the team to rework it which they have, however I'm not sure if that's what will be released or whether it will come in a patch. I'll find that out, but either way, it is getting improved to be significantly more substantial. Matt.
My kid was playing roblox the other day and the spray effect looked 10 times better! I'm glad you are getting the team to look at it.
Agree. Thanks Matt. It's slightly worrying though. I'd have though the devs would have researched it well, beforehand. I've only seen these trains passing by whilst stuck at a level crossing and never in action. Sounded and looked great in the video, but must be mind numbing for the driver at that speed.
Here is the competition! Gold Star Trains MPV, if they can create a good spray effect I`m sure you can.....
I'm sure the spray was improved, not long after it's initial release. But lately, the spray level appears to be virtually none existent again
DTG got them self into a mess. Another weird behavior of tsw3 is the broken compressor sound of the class 37. Unfortunately for the few improvements from tsw 2 to tsw3, they broke a ton of other things, which were working before in tsw2, but not anymore after the release.
