Thank you for finding this I tried looking this morning and wasn't able to find it, but remember it being said.
It should be live for Steam and Epic players now - Xbox/PC Game Pass/PS5 to follow today, and PS4 after the weekend (this is due to platform certification - we wanted to get as many people the toggle as possible, hence the staggered rollout. Using the Save Game toggle: Press 'Escape' to reach the Pause menu Select options with the mouse Select 'Save' with the mouse Acknowledge save Press 'Escape' again to close the Pause menu
It's here! I've used it to save a timetable session on Cajun, but have yet to try a restore -- that will come as soon as I finish up here.
While I very much appreciate being able to save and resume activities in TSW3, I'm wondering why an extra step is necessary to save. That is, in TSW2, saving requires 1) press ESC, 2) press S key, 2) press ESC again; however, as indicated above, in TSW3 5 steps are required. Ah, well, we can't have everything.
I think it's because the save toggle was " shoehorned " into the settings menu and the options screen, the only way it could be reinstated for the time being. We can hope that the final fix will see the feature restored to its convenient place in the pause menu. For the moment, let's not look a gift horse in the mouth. We can deal with the extra clicks.
I have not turned it on yet. I have found that running activities that are around an hour or less, I am able to run through the entire thing. If I do have to stop for some reason, I just use pause and then resume when back.
There's more than one way to use the save feature. I use it in the usual way when I have to leave the game for several hours or days. I also use it when I need to use my machine for some other purpose. My most common use is to save my progress at regular intervals, in case I screw up, especially during complex switching services. I used it 3 times yesterday in one scenario. No problems resuming. On a different note, has the " load last checkpoint " feature returned? I haven't seen it.
It's there -- (save wouldn't worth much without it), but it's called "Resume Last Played", a new choice that shows up alongside the others on the first menu page if you've saved a previous activity.
