TSW2 - Intel i5-11600K Nvidia GTX 1650 4GB 32GB RAM 27" 1440p 60Hz Monitor TSW3 - Not purchased yet I am searching for a GPU card upgrade for TSW2
MSI Laptop i12700 CPU 3070ti GPU (laptop) 1TB SSB 17.6" Quad HD display With a few ini tweaks running ultra graphics with the exception of sky detail which is set as high. TAA antilasing and 100% screen with FPS fluctuations between high 30s- to max of 60. With vanilla settings in clear weather I can hit 60fps consistently but the pop ins of lineside scenery was annoying to say the least so the lower FPS is a decent trade off IMO With a vanilla ini
Cpu i5 12600kf locked at 5ghz Gpu rtx 3070 locked at 2.1 ghz 16gb 3600 ddr4 Average 60fps @ 1080 resolution with all settings maxed 200% screen. Hoping a upgrade to a rtx 4070 when available, will achieve the above @ 4k. Forgot to mention running tsw3 not 2.
some gpu experts on utube are saying the new Nvidia (RTX 4080 12GB) version is actually a 4070, while the (RTX 4080 16GB) version is the real 4080
I've not seen that. I heard the 4090 is apparently 4x faster than the 3090, and the 4070 is apparently 2x as fast as the 3090. I'll just have to wait and see what the figures are when there's a few cards out there.
Laptop i7-6500 2.5GHz 8GB RAM enough storage space Nividia GeForce 920MX apparently that's not so good because on TSW2 I run at 50% screen resolution, low graphics, and while I can mostly squeeze out 20fps, I average about 15fps north of Clapham Junction on London Commuter. However, if there isn't much to load (such as Northern Trans-Pennine or the quarry lines on the Brighton Mainline or basically ALL of the East Coastway) then I can get 30fps (which is the frame cap I have) Can't get TSW3 yet, hopefully soon! EDIT: Oh and I play at 720p on a 1080p (I think) screen and have the weather set to foggy to reduce render distance.
X99 Xeon E5-2640 V3 GTX 1650 (overclock to 2.045 Mhz) 16 GB RAM SSD M2 500 GB FPS at 60 Full HD High and medium settings 100% screen. This under TSW3. I'm looking for a new Video Card but for my processor my choices are limited (GTX 1660 TI, RTX 2060 Super, RTX 3050 e RTX 3060) but I believe this processor can't run a RTX-3060 close 100% gpu use.
I’m still on a 2080ti until GPU prices get more realistic. I’d love to go out and buy a 4090 but whilst the prices are as obscene as they are I refuse to be ripped off. In all honesty, the 2080ti can still hold it’s own…I’m not sure the tipping point has been reached to bin a card like that. No doubt in 18 months time we’ll be seeing 50 series cards that are twice as fast as the 40 series. TSW will still have a 10ft long draw distance however. What TSW needs is native DX12 support and DLSS…why it doesn’t have it yet is a bit odd. Even if only DLSS, not only would you get much more out of your GPU but it would definitely help with this awful shimmering we’re subjected to. DLSS might even give DTG some head room to turn up the draw distance a bit. Again, new iteration of the game, why no DLSS?
What is DLSS? Would it possibly improve performance on a Geforce 920MX (I don't expect it to come to TSW2)?
It’s an Nvidia thing that allows you to render the game in a lower resolution which then upscales it to your chosen resolution. It means you no longer need TAA, and the vast majority of games use it now. Why TSW doesn’t remains a mystery. I’m doubtful, however, that it would be supported on what I assume is an older mobile GPU. This demonstrates what Nvidia are claiming the 40 series will be able to do using DLSS 3.0.
Ah I see - thanks for the help. I didn't realise my laptop had a mobile GPU! It explaines the lack of "GTX" in front of it!
i7 10700k Nvidia RTX 2070 32go ram Windows 10 on 256go ssd TSW3 on 500go SSD 27" screen Framerate good enough even with ini tweaks. Rare stutters. I also would like to see DLSS and Dx12 native support...and more graphical options to tailor the results for each PC config.
I did see this, and it made no sense. Suddenly there is a 920M and a 930MX and and 930M and a 945M and so many more things like shader count and Maxwell and DDR3. Basically, I gave up trying to understand it among other websites, and just turned to the very kind and helpful forums!
Like said above, you would, need a Nvidia serie 20xx graphic card to be able to use DLSS. But this graph option is very unlikely to appear in TSW soon IMO. On other recent games/simulators it's a rather common option.
This PC is now almost 2 years old and still runs TSW without issues, fps in upper 80 to 110s, with the occasional stutter into the 30 - 40 range. I am feeding this through a 32" 4k monitor and have most things maxed out in settings. Running mý i7 4790 16mb RAM GTX 1060 T5 SSD external Getting a respectable 40 to 50 FPS in normal Areas down to 30 to 35 in built up and the occasional drop below 30 if I spin the camera and point at the busiest and well known FPS killers such as Speke Jcn on SoS. Am running the screen at around 86% and in High settings. Screen res on 2440p Am pretty happy with the results after not plunging for the early release thinking I would need a 3070 or more to get decent results. I play on an LG OLED TV 55 inch.
I5 12400 16gb ram RTX 3060ti FE 512gb WD Nvme 2tb SSD 27" 1440P IPS monitor. G-Sync compatible. I Lock Fps at 50, and most routes do fine, with occasional slowdown in unoptimised places. Everything on ultra except sky which is high. Could set fps higher, but the FE runs hot once above 85% usage, and the bedroom is warm enough as it is at the minute.

I've reached the last chapter of the journey, and for the first time I'm not seeing stutters or frame drops, only get low fps when there's a lot of trains/cars on screen. SKW will be my next task, and I'm sure the stutters will return, but we shall see.
Commodore 64…. Decided to join the “in crew” and whinge about backporting tsw3 to 2. I figure with their new charity status of serving the world for free (my “in crew” expectation of DTG) that someone can pull their finger out and help hook me up with dynamic weather here

I play TSW3 in config: Ryzen 7 5800X 2x16GB DDR4 3200Mhz EVGA RTX 3070 XCS Ultra SSD NVMe XPG gaming S11 PRO I have a lot of sttutering, I've tried running in dx12, but it didn't help. I'm running everything on ultra at 1440p. I would also like to know the graphics settings that people are playing.
Win 10 i5 - 10400f 16(2x8)GB RAM RTX 3060 OC SSD(NVME for OS, SATA for games) 1920x1080 @75Hz Too many stutters and FPS drops for me. Ultra settings except clouds. 150% render(lowering this have no effects on frame counter). FPS 45-75(with drops to 20 on 0,5-1 sec) depends of area and time of the day(evening and morning provides lower framerate, looks like the reason is more intensive shadows).
Your SATA drive is probably not helpful with the scenery loading up as you play. An SSD either internal or external like I use may improve things. Your getting good FPS with the GPU and CPU by the looks of it otherwise.
TSW 3 Windows 11 i5-12600KF RTX 3070ti 32GB DDR4 3600Mhz Installed on WD Black SN750 NVMe 1TB drive 1440p everything high (100% Scaling) - VSynced to 60fps - which it stays rock solid at, apart from the 'normal' TSW stuttering / drops every so often (especially with TSW 2 add-ons).

Windows 11 I9 10900K @3.7Ghz 32 GB 2TB Samsung 970 SSD (Boot Drive) 2TB Samsung 980 SSD (Game Installs) 800W Power Supply Geforce RTX3080 32inch 1440p Monitor GSync Compatible Monitor. No special tweaks or overclocking. Works pretty well - but I honestly prefer to play TSW on Xbox Series X it doesn't even get close to the same frame rates. Just prefer playing in 4K on a big screen.
CPU - Whatever is in a PS5, don’t know, don’t care RAM - Whatever is in a PS5, dunno GPU - Whatever is in a PS5, ditto SSD - Not enough storage space in a PS5, the only downside of it. Monitor - The big 4k telly in the front room, can’t remember what size so no comparing willy inches from me. Dell keyboard, stolen from the mother-in-law’s home office, works a treat for shortcuts. Windows operating system not necessary, which is the main benefit. £900 the lot. Beat that, number nerds No ini files, no mods, no worries! Works great for TSW2 and 3, barely any stuttering, fps fine, but still has a small issue with a DLC limit at present on TSW3. It’s a PS5 in case you missed it. I just thought you might like to experience what it feels like to be stress free for a minute away from the complex bewildering world of PC specs. You don’t even need to know them let alone quote them. It’s bliss, isn’t it? Aaaah, relax.
Exactly what I have, LG OLED built with some Gaming tech inside so they say, very good sound which persuaded me to bin my surround set up also. Never gone back to Monitors.
CPU: I7-12700K GPU: RTX 3080 10GB RAM: 32GB DDR5 1 TB PCIe SSD Watercooling I play on a 1440p Monitor with 144Hz. TSW runs on Ultra with 200%.
Well, the conclusion seems to be, TSW(3) run very badly on most systems, even high end ones that can handle modern AAA shooters and Microsoft Flight Simulator just fine. TSW(3) needs optimization badly.
Well the PS5 (or XBox) also have some negatives. -No mods (some are really great) -Cant fully play with mouse and keyboard with all trains (at least on Xbox Series one keyboard key does not work) -Have to pay (much) more for Game and DLC's (much less Sales compared to Steam/PC and less discount usually)
