From Okayama to Osaka. Would have to model only the 16 car rail set for the 700 series Shinkansen. Possibly could do the older 300's or 500's. But it would be an awesome route to push out. This could be DoveTail Games biggest glory ever. Himeji Castle, Japan's Premium, first Castle tourist attraction (which was in James Bond's "You only Live Twice" with Sean Connery) would feature in the route. Osaka has lots, and lots, and lots of buildings, so managing that would be a slight issue, but if DTG can do New York, they can do it! While some trains running to Kyuushu are 8 car sets, it wouldn't be totally necessary to put them in. They could. SD40Australia-Daniel
The Shinkansen networks of Japan is something TS has needed from the very start - until now, the closest we've been able to get to this is with JustTrains' CRH addons, but it would be fantastic to bring the original high speed train family to the newest generation of train simulation! Alongside the 0 Series Shinkansen (the original) and the newer versions that currently run on the line, I reckon it could be quite fun to see a version of Doctor Yellow included - Doctor Yellows are special Shinkansen units used to measure and check the track to make sure it's in good condition, in a similar manner to the New Measurement Train (also known as the Flying Banana among certain rail enthusiasts) in the UK. As for the 0 series, DTG wouldn't even need to visit Japan to find an excellent example of the power type in preservation - the only example of an 0 Series unit outside Japan is located at the UK's own National Rail Museum, which has a single 0 Series power car as part of their collection.
Kids in Japan love Doctor Yellow. They know the schedule. Until you have been on the Shinkansen, you have no idea how good it is. The technology (such as the tilt and damper system which makes the ride EXTREMELY SMOOTH!) is top secret. I bet the Japanese are very protective of it even though they have sold it to Taiwan and China. The 0 series Shinkansen could be included in the Gold edition, priced at a premium. The 500 series could be also be included. And a few other tidbits and souvenirs etc. It could be one of the best marketing Coup De Tats in the history of Train Simulator since Microsoft launched the original. SD40Australia-Daniel
The other main thing which really puts a great case for Shinkansens being included in TSW is the huge variety they'll bring along. Plenty of different routes through stunning Japanese countryside and dense cities, but also the wide variety of Shinkansen designs that will become available. Over the years there's been many interesting train designs produced in Japan, and the Shinkansens show this off brilliantly. These were the trains which taught the rest of the railway industry how to go really fast, after all!
