Early days, but I want to keep everyone in the loop. I've taken on some part time telecoms work to enable me to keep building for Train Simulator indefinitely - the next project is a 153. With the correct cabs at each end, GSM-R, NRN, wheel-slip etc. Having built the Plasser 09 CSM and MPV, I've learned some neat approaches to making the impossible, possible.

So, it's a draft build at present with only basic detailing added (lights, plough and bogies are borrowed from the MPV) but, here's the shell...

    No. 1 End
    153-a-1.jpg
    153-draft-2.jpg

    No.2 End
    153-a-2.jpg

Don't forget to follow the GST facebook page for regular updates (although these will be far less frequent than those given for the MPV). Thank you! :)

Given your previous work, I'm already excited for this. The JT 153 advanced was good for its time but is showing its age now. This when finished will be a welcome addition to TSC :)

Just please don't fall into the trap that just about every second gen DMU in TSC does as regards physics. Notches 1 to 6 are not a "speed setter" but just apply slightly less power. We get the ridiculous situation driving Sprinters (including the AP 170) where if you throttle back from (say) Notch 7 to Notch 4 on level or even a falling grade the train speed immediately and rather rapidly falls back to whatever (false) arbitrary value it has been set at in the physics files.

Taken on board, I'll likely have a neat little sub system to ensure that what you just described doesn't happen :)

Is the 153 gauged correctly? Your front profile suggests not.

It's the tracks that are out :) Early days, but if you've had a play with the MPV you'll get a good idea of my intentions.

Richard sent the boys round with a few baseball bats and a stern warning... "Stay off our patch - or else"

The Train Simulator mafia :D - nah, nothing that glamorous. I will keep working on the model I have here and there but it's unlikely it'll see an appearance anytime soon.

This is great news for the players, TSC needed another class 153 for ages the one we have is well outdated now i will keep my eye on this, but knowing your work on the tamper im sure this is gone be the same quality or even better keep it up Duncan great work man

Really looking forward to this! Have always loved a good sprinter, and this one more or less completes the collection in TS. I caved in and invested in the MPV today, and it was worth every penny! If the 153 is of a similar quality, I can’t wait

Had a very busy week, but found a little spare time to remodel the plough, resize the bmacs and start reprofiling the top corners.

    153b.jpg

The engine, propshaft and other bits will all work and be visible. I have some other new ideas for it too.

How will you get round the 153 having two different cabs?

As part of my proof of concept work I designed a little sub system to get around that. It's my hope that the 153 will be even more feature rich than the MPV, but I am just one man so I'll just see what I can do with the best will in the world. The propshaft is already in a position to be animated via scripting, the GSM-R is ready to go, the different cabs should be good to go based on the preliminary work I've done. I've taken a huge amount of financial pressure away from myself so can take time to cover every ridiculous little detail with this build.

Hopefully, in turn that'll lead to many more happy GST customers and I may be able to focus on building trains exclusively again in the medium term future.

Your axles need levelling. One is pushing the wheels into the rail, the other has them flying above it.

    Today's detailing:

    rear-2.jpg

Prop shafts are in there. Just a little more to do on the flatbed and then I can finish detailing the engines and gearboxes.

Good source goes a long way :)

It'll come back around to the 153/155. My threads tend to be epics. And they cover a wide variety of things, usually contribution based. Merry Christmas by the way, and a happy New year to you.

Looking fantastic, can't wait to have a play.
Just wondering, is this a new release or an upgrade for those that already own the original MPV?
    P.S.
Wishing you the very best of what 2023 has to offer
Plus a massive thank you for all you do to keep TSC growing
    Best Wishes

It's a straight upgrade, as you all deserve the best I can do. And that'll keep improving over time too.

    Merry Christmas mate :)
