So on Monday, being off work, I decided to head out to the BNSF Cajon Sub to do some railfanning, as well as to do some comparisons between IRL and the TSW3 version of the route. Couldn't get to some places due to reasons (IE there is alot of landscaping at Frost.) and the limitations of the freecam of TSW means some photos couldn't be replicated very well.

NOTE: Due to the amount of zoom the TSW cam has, some of these photos may not look exactly correct.

    1. Barstow, facing West towards the old yard and Depot.

Couldn't go much farther than the pass itself, as it was getting late and the traffic on I-15 looked horrible.

Great job! Thx for this \o/

The similar SPG topic shows that TSW CJP is not as good replicating real terrain as TSW SPG but it gives the justice to the proper mood in my opinion. BR o7

Great if you can be right there and take real photos! I always find such comparisons between the real and the virtual world very exciting. On the one hand you can see how detailed the implementation was and on the other hand how far we are graphically able to implement it nowadays. I think the Skyhook guys added the rocks again, they did a great job on Sherman Hill and Cane Creek too. Of course some rocks formations look a bit different than in TSW, but the landscapers have captured the feeling of the route quite well. ;)

    Great job with the photography!!

I'd give TSW about a B overall, but probably only a C on missing out on the level of vegetation, something I noticed on the original DTG screenshots and stream.

I don't think it's that bad, except for the disappointingly simplified Harvey House.

A shame that while the TSW route looks nearly close to real life, it's still far way to get that same feeling of what it actually looks like.

Damn we sure expect a lot for our money.
Perfect physics, perfect vehicles, perfect operations, perfect lighting, perfect weather, perfect signalling and now perfect scenery.
Personally I'm happy if they can recreate the feel of the scenery and leave the fine detail to our imaginations.

I live in the South East Uk and use the SEHS.
Scenery is not perfect but it's good enough to create the illusion.
    That's all I ask for.
That's all my pc can handle.

    Great photos Blacknred81, appreciated.

Excellent job on the comparison! I think DTG did an outstanding job on capturing the overall feel of the area.

Excellent Comparison and for the Barstow Yard in Game it's a Hump complete with Retarders towards the switching tracks. What Barstow can serve is the prototype working Hump Yards for RRO RSN Hagen Vorhalle and Nahverkehr Dresden Dresden Friedrichstadt if Built

  16. Thanks for the comparison. It looks amazing in the sim TSW3. DTG has done amazing stuff!!!!

It would have been great if we could have got working humps as per the Run 8 version. We could have had Yardmaster mode!

I agree and for DTG they can use Barstow as a Guinea pig for RRO RSN Hagen Vorhalle ÖBB Wien Kledering
