Would anyone have suggestions for a resource that would more thoroughly explain what train functions do? The tutorials are good on a basic level (i.e. turn on generator field switch). But i'd like to know what does it actually DO inside the train...what purpose does it serve? I think I'd remember the operation of the locomotives if I knew what impact the process has on its operation other that the train moving, or not moving by not doing it.
If you are looking for how to use safety systems/signalling systems/signals/how to drive a loco (especially American freight), there are numerous YouTube videos you can watch. Matt from dtg created several tutorial videos too. Some routes should have a manual, idk which ones. There's also official documentation I think but idk about those. You can't really interact with everything and some things don't actually do anything, just there to press
