Hello everyone, I am setting up a dedicated thread for any questions in advance of next week's stream, hosted by our german ambassador and railway driver Ramagani, who will be explaining in full how german safety systems work for both english and german audiences! Please ask any questions you may have for Ramagani to prepare in advance!
How do the (two-screen) MFD's installed in the BR 401 and BR 403 trains in SKW distinguish between a restricted and a normal PZB monitoring (both 1,000 and 500 Hertz)? Is this documented in any DB Richtlinie? Do you think this is implemented correctly in the game (on the modeled MFDs, NOT on the HUD/safety system helper)?
Shouldn't this be pinned? Or sticky-ed? I nearly missed it! Should you acknowledge before the signal or after you pass it. What does the system allow for?
Well, the acknowledging itself has to happen after you passed the signal or, more precisely, after passing the active 1000Hz magnet. PZB has no other way of knowing you passed a signal. What you can do, however, and some drivers do this in real life as well, is to hold the acknowledge button down while passing the signal and then release it as soon as you’ve passed the signal (it’s letting go of the button that actually does the acknowledging). That way, the 3 seconds timing is not as tight since you only need to let go.
what are the rules for acknowledging an upcoming speed reduction? (the orange triangle speed boards) are there different rules for different pzb modes?
Acknowledge all restrictions of 70 km/h or lower Acknowledge a restriction of 80 km/h if you are travelling faster than 95 km/h Acknowledge a restriction of 90 km/h if you are travelling faster than 105 km/h No. Cheers
Also done by a lot of drivers in real life. Technically, all reductions to below 100 km/h have to be acknowledged according to the rule book. However, as you imply, if you're within the 15 km/h tolerance for 80 and 90 km/h, then no 1000Hz monitoring will be triggered as the magnet is already inactive thanks to the GPA. Just throwing that in there for those wanting the most realism.
Hey Everyone. Sorry that i have now the first time to Answer. I would like to write all your Question out and at 20th i will show you all. Inside the Stream i would like to show all about Signals and PZB/LZB and Other systems. After the stream you will find the Stream also on my Archiv on youtube.
