So, one of the earlier pieces of US rollingstock available for TSW was the Centerbeam flat car, as it appeared on NEC: New York, Oakville, Peninsula Corridor, and with the GP40-2. Yet, since then this car has been omitted from modern US routes like Sherman Hill, Horseshoe curve, and Cajon Pass. Which I find strange since this car is one of the most common cars seen on US railroads, as its the main piece of rolling stock used to carry lumber products across North America. (Its also has been the cause of some derailments too, but that's a different story) So, I'm just curious why this car hasn't ever been reused on newer routes like other pieces of rolling stock? Even the ballast car from Peninsula Corridor has been reused twice by SHG.
I guess it depends on the region and what is common to that area depending on industries in game and what types of services there are. Even though it's common, there might not be service types in game where that particular freight car would run. I know nothing about trains and freight operations other than what's in tsw so don't come after me lol
They are usually found thrown in most manifest trains. They are also common due to small lumber yards usually taking at least 1 carload from them if they are rail served. Its just odd that aside from the steel coil car, they haven't made a return. I think the more variety the better, it would be cool to see the centerbeam cars mixed in where appropriate. DW
Is this the wagon which was built incorrectly and uses up far too memory in game, or am I confusing it with something else?
Judging by the freights that I see everyday in my Midwest location, center beams are at least as common as tankers and covered hoppers. They're almost always packing wood products, much of it coming down from the North Country and Canada.
There are still some wagons yet to return; the ones from the GP40-2 pack and some from NEC New York. Of course DTG still have the models and textures for all of the cut DLC so there is hope that everything could come back in some form or another. I'd be completely unsurprised if the GP40-2 was included in a new route or the wagons in a new pack as well.
AFAIK, the only cars not to return are the Centerbeams, and the Steel Coil car, SHG recently used the trash flats on HSC, on a weird fictional train that contains trash containers and Euro trailers.
To introduce them into the game as part of Manifest Freight DTG should make a SD70ACEP4 DLC with the Center Beam Car Cajon Pass BNSF. other versions are Manifest Freight AC6000CW/SD90MAC Sherman Hill SD80MAC AC6000CW CSX Sand Patch grade this will have the Steel Coil Car and Centerbeam car. Option 3 BNSF GP40-2 with Centerbeam Car Steel Coil that way the BNSF San Bernardino Yard gets a dedicated switcher (UK Shunter DB/SBB Rangierlok)
