About as much how - Off The Rails - can get in real life! As a child I got infected by the train virus. The virus inside of me escalated even more at Utrecht, 1989. When the Dutch railways existed for 150 years: Treinen door de Tijd. A large collection of trains from all over Europe (it was still possible back than!) came to our country. Steam locomotives from (for example) Poland (Pt 47-112), Czech Republic (Albatros 498.022 and 475.179), Belgium (Series '29, 29013), Germany(BR 03 / BR 52), France (SNCF 141 R420), Switzerland (C 5/6 2978), England (GWR 3700 City of Truro) etc. They pulled special steam trains across our country! Classical engines like the Belgian diesel series 59 (5910), French CC7107, British origin BR27000 and a German V200 with a Lübeck Doppelstock Wendezug! But also 'modern' trains like the prototype Intercity Experimental (ICE-V) and a brand new TGV-Atlantique. Also some other curious rolling stock came to Utrecht! What an amazing time that was! Impossible on this scale, sadly enough, nowadays...maybe Eurailspeed and Innotrans come close. But that is only with modern stuff. Anyway...I am always looking for pictures/stories of that summer of 1989 (Nostalgia) in the Netherlands and Utrecht particularly. For example, this interesting journey of a Super Sprinter Class 156 coming from Scotland to this event: Have a look at this marvelous journey and story on this website: http://www.traintesting.com/Utrecht.htm
looks like there are two British locomotives the Woodhead Line class 77 (NS 1500) & 156 sprinters. Then a DB V200 the pre german reunification DB BR220 the current DB BR220 is the Russian/Ukrainian M62 the DR BR120
