Thanks, that was helpful. Bit of a shame but helpful all the same. Doesn't matter though. Can't wait!
The Azuma art was part of the promotional art Tom Connell did for LNER when the trains were introduced. Nothing to do with TSW. https://dribbble.com/shots/6704075-Lner-Azuma-1
Ah, I see. It was the stripes that also got used with all the TSW2 stuff that was pointing me in the direction of it being a work in progress thing for a new TSW route.
Isn't one of the abbreviations in the achievements, "CC"? That pretty much reads as Cross City to me.
In my opinion I doubt dovetail saying it's the ecml as this image looks like to me just talking about its history not really annoying it.
It's unlikely to have a Class 390 because the only stop it would be at is Birmingham New Street at they wouldn't make a train just to sit static at a station. I would love to see that train but it would have to come with another route. I really want a Class 350 as well. You might see that or a Class 170 instead
Now I can’t speak for everyone but I’m pretty sure most people would have preferred something like the ECML, Elizabeth line or WCML. I don’t know why dtg have decided to make such an irrelevant route when basically no one asked for it. But oh well… we’ll just have to see what rivet games has in store for us now.
Yea a big let down. I have played BBC in TSC and is similar to eastcoast way and cathcart circle. Nothing that I would be looking foward too. Let’s hope this is the rivet games route. It seems we are getting this route is just a question if is rivet or DTG route. Below is some information from BCC TSC route
Why not something more people would want Like if you're doing a Birmingham route do something like Coventry - Wolverhampton
We could still get the wcml as when we got SEHS we got part of the chatnam mainline so for this BCC one we could get it.
i am not annoyed that we got cross city line, as it does not seem too bad frequency wise (if they use pre 2020 timetables) and is a nice break from 3rd rail electrostars and London for the UK.
Ideally i would prefer a route with one of the aventras so either the class 720, 710 or 345 but I understand that people are getting tired of Routes in the south of England and would prefer something up North.
3rd party Cross City Birmingham and DTG Euston to Birmingham. That's where my money is. I reckon WCML will have Aventras and Desiros with 323s for Cross City.
Euston to Birmingham is too long for dtg. It's over 100 miles. Skw was only long cuz people wanted a longer high speed route. Doesn't mean dtg will do longer routes all the time
If they did a WMCL route it would be more likely to be just up to Nuneaton and or Coventry from Euston or maybe Birmingham to Crewe via Wolverhampton That being said if Cross City line was being made then it would make sense to have another route into New Street as you would only need one model for a large station which would take time to make If they did Cross City and a section of the WCML in Birmingham then they could later make a Snow Hill line route from Snow Hill/Moor Street to Worcester via Smethwick and Kidderminster and have a sort of Birmingham mega pack where you could buy all 3 routes
I like cross city line but I think other routes would be a better choice e.g wcml Trent valley or east coast York to Peterborough or Elizabeth line etc
We already have the Great Western Main Line and Brighton Main Line; we only have one UK route using OHLE (Cathcart Circle) and no modern routes in the north or midlands. Cross City is a good fit IMO until we get something like the ECML later on hopefully.
I think the community would rather have a train that could layer onto other routes but then again as you said most routes are southern 3rd rail so possibility is low
Well yes, but surely there are more interesting OHLE routes than this? EMCL, WCML, Southern MML, etc?
We should have only main line routes and disregard the rest? I'm not saying we shouldn't have the ECML/MML/WCML, but it's a whole lot better than another southern region route at the moment that's for sure.
ECML, MML, WCML trains/ rail companies can provide way more layers for future routes than the class 323 could and that’s for sure
I have mostly all UK routes on TSC and I enjoyed all. But the routes that I keep going back to are ECML and WCML. The main lines just have so much to offer. The routes with just one loco get boring fast. Hopefully the second route would be one that provides different variety
We'll find out I think this thursday from what I heard with people saying they might reveal it prior to the next roadmap. Also I just realised could the new route be one with the newly introduced 196 civity dmu as I think that's what they meant by something new.
That would be cool. Although it looks like an electrostar it has a really modern front design on it that just looks so good.
WCML over Shap with the Windermere branch as in TSC would be great but I don't see it happening any time soon. The only reason we got SKW as is in TSW3 is because infrastructure wise it's a relatively linear route with simple track layout, only three stations. Much of the line is in tunnel or passing through remote largely wooded countryside making the task of scenery placement much easier and quicker. For WCML over Shap, regardless of era you would have to tackle Preston, Lancaster, Carnforth and depending on era the real doozy of Carlisle.
The new routes are overhead electric routes so I don't think they will make a dmu as the main locomotive tbh
