I was wondering why so few sales in the Xbox store? Right now every route is priced at a firm 39.99 CAD in my current locale, but I notice sales on Steam are frequent. I don't know if it's within DTG's ability to have the odd discount from time to time, but I certainly do feel the occasional pangs of regret for choosing the Xbox as my TSW platform instead of investing in a gaming PC. Maybe I'm just timing things badly and missing the sales though?
Feel free to browse the archive https://forums.dovetailgames.com/search/30620434/?q=xbox+sale&o=relevance To summarise, it's not within DTGs authority but the vocal minority do not agree. They participate in everything they are offered.
I think the reason that this explanation isn't considered satisfactory by some on here is that they see games and DLC from other publishers both large and small discounted regularly in the XBOX store and it therefore doesn't make logical sense that TSW DLC is consistently excluded. Of course, many things in this world don't make logical sense, but it does raise the question of whether the situation is perhaps more nuanced than DTG are willing or able to share, e.g. there are other qualifying criteria, publishers need to pay for sales slots etc. etc..
Yeah, it's not something which makes any kind of sense when you see how frequently pretty much everything else on the XBox store is on sale from large and small developers and publishers alike. If you track the frequency of sales on both well known and super obscure indie titles against those for TSW, it's not even close, there's a huge statistical outlier here even when you eliminate achievement farming titles and the like. We're not privy to the info on why this is though, and indeed DTG might be as in the dark as we are. If not, they could certainly be under NDAs about the specifics of how any of their deals with MS work.
Thanks for the info everyone. I'm sure if there is a sale on at any point, someone will make a post on the forum (and I'll do the same if I spot one).
