The Capitol Corridor is intercity passenger rail service operated by the California Department of Transportation and Amtrak under the Amtrak California brand. The Capitol Corridor service connects the San Francisco Bay Area with Sacramento and the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The Capitol Corridor is one of three services that operate under the Amtrak California band, the other two being the San Joaquin & Pacific Surfliner. The Capitol Corridor operates on a 168 mile route stretching from Auburn to San Jose, California. Most trains operate between San Jose-Sacramento or Oakland-Sacramento with two trains per day operating to and from Auburn. The Capitol Corridor serves 17 stations along the route with another 8 stations being proposed and/or built as service extensions. The Capitol Corridor shares its route with UP and BNSF freight trains, Amtrak's Coast Starlight, California Zephyr, and the San Joaquin. Caltrans owns the majority of the rolling stock used for the service with Amtrak equipment also being used. Trains are maintained at Amtrak's Oakland Yard. Motive Power for the Capitol Corridor are 15 F59PHIs, 2 P32-8BWHs (Dash 8s), and 6 Siemens SC-44 Charger locomotives. Amtrak's P42DCs are often found running on Capitol Corridor trainsets as well. Rolling Stock for the Capitol Corridor is a mix of California, Surfliner, and Superliner cars.

Amtrak engines plus UP and BNSF diesels. Absolutely!
What about doing it in the SP 1950s and 60s era? We could get some cool SP diesels, including an H-24-66 Trainmaster and an SP SD7 or SD9.

Maybe as a Bonus Add-on to The Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco - Gilroy Route.
