Xbox Dynamic Weather Been Nerfed?

Seems like after this latest update there is no more awesome looking lightning bolts and flashes, just rain and thunder. Is it just me or anyone else notice? I play on a Xbox series S. The storms are less intense and boring. Before this update the storms, even set on rain storm or clouds then it changes to a storm had great looking lightning! Now none. Can anyone confirm this or is it my imagination? Anybody?

 

Yep same thing here it says on the update patch notes lightning no longer strike under covers and be at greater distance from the player so basically you never see it now they just ruined storms

 

Yup, it used to strike too close, people talked about it and now it's further away

 

Thanks! Someone else thinks DT ruined the dynamic weather. If it is not broke, leave it alone!

Same here. It was awesome driving Kassel Wurzburg in a Thunderstorm, now it’s quite disappointing.

Agreed, inside the cab was wrong, as was inside stations undercover. Though I never had anything in the cab as some have seen.

It just seems rare and far away now. If you’re driving through a storm, the lightening should be close, not somewhere else. What’s the point of having the rain falling where you are and the lightening miles away.

 

They were over the top before but I haven’t played in a lightning storm since the update to see if they have actually ruined it with this change. Although the occasional bolt of lighting close to the train was good fun, having a vengeful god follow you along the track narrowly missing you with an extended flurry of warning strikes was not a realistic depiction of a real storm. It was too arcade for my liking and became a bit tiresome. Thunderbolts and lightning very very frightening me, Galileo, Galileo etc.

 

I barely noticed the lightning before the update - the odd bolt or two would be noticed, the sky not lighting up much made any lightning almost invisible. Haven’t seen what it looks like now.

 

Now it is as not enough as it was too much before. OK but not dramatic enough. BR o7

I know right! That is what made the storms so cool! Nothing like driving a train through a violent lightning storm! Now you can't anymore thanks to DT. Way to go.

 

I disagree, I think the way it is after the patch is far better. The odds of seeing lightning strikes at close range as it was in TSW3 would be cosmically low, and the sound doesn't reflect distance from the strike so it was extra silly seeing a strike 30 yards away and then hearing a muffled thunder clap 5 seconds later (I'm sure most people have experienced this, but if lightning strikes less than a quarter mile away, it's not too dissimilar from hearing a gunshot or explosive go off at close range.)

 

You guys I guess like boring storms. It was better before and looked cool. Now a storm comes and I go, where is the lightning. Lol they ruined it.

I went and bought MFS2020 and I have to say they nailed it with realistic weather patterns, big storms, huge lightning. Take note DT. You guys had something awesome with the storms and lightning, now boring.

 

I think these guys are afraid of lightning I guess, do not get their logic at all! Lol

 

I think these anti-lightning boring crowd have never seen MFS2020 weather. Any of you just record/pic of a storm and prove me wrong! I want to see an intense lightning storm with wicked lightning that they cry still exists after update.

 

lol should just be an ingame option so everyone is happy. I bought the game recently for the crazy storms and load it up to just see heavy rain and not much else.

 

Exactly! It is boring as heck now and most find it better now? Ok..lol Most of these stick in the muds on here think I'm crazy for liking wild lightning storms!? They said it is much more realistic and better. Smh. DT ruined the storms, nerfed big time.

 

They can't please everyone all the time with their focus on realism.

I for one like my storms looking like they could possibly occur on this planet, but at the same time I lament that we'll never get an Isle of Sodor route expansion.

It was awesome! Now its LOVE.

 

The issue with the lightning storms is it was the same ,isn’t I guess bolt (I believe) all the the time. It was a far away bolt hitting in the foreground. It wasn’t the frequency, more that the lightning bolt looked like it materialised 20 metre off ground. If it’s a close strike you wouldn’t see the top. It’d go off screen.

there bolts need to be chosen based on distance and not all be fork lightning, could be sheet or the one which branches out horizontally

 

I have to say I agree on that and DT needs to take a look at MFS weather ...it is superb!
