I’m loving the German DLC lately. I own all the DLC except for the Br204, G6, and Br363 (red one, I have the blue one that’s included with some of the routes). I’m wondering which if any of the ones I don’t have are worth getting, and what they add as far as services. Also curious how the substitutions work with them. For example I know the Br204 adds services to to dockyard area on MSB… are those services only for that Br204 or would I be able to use the 363/G6? I read some criticism of the 204 so it might be last on my list, but if it adds services that I can use the other ones are that might change things.
Hi there. The 204 is only for the docks in msb. It only adds 8 services though and they are really short, so there is little replayability in msb. The 363 and g6 can't sub in. The 204 can also sub into other german routes and do freight runs done normally by the locomotives such as the 185, etc. The main drawback of the 204 is that it was made incorrectly. It was modeled as a diesel electric instead of diesel hydraulic according to people in the forums, so the driving behavior is incorrect. Half the notches on the throttle wheel don't do anything. Only the first 3 provide power and the rest don't. Tsg actually did a review of this before rivet released and said it was completely wrong, but rivet was close to releasing it, so they had to release it. It would have required them to rebuild the locomotive from scratch which they didn't have the time to do. The g6 is an excellent shunter, so I would highly recommend it even at full price cuz it's made by tsg and you know how high quality his work is. The 101, 425, 423, ice3, ice1, 612, 363. He helped with the sounds and/or setup on these locomotives. It adds new services to rro and each service is unique. It also subs into other routes such as dcz and hbl. The 363 is also another great loco for rsn. It adds new services to the plant and unique services and quite a bit. It can also sub into other 363 shunter moves in other routes I believe.
Thanks for the info. I just got the 363 and G6. The 204 I will hold off on maybe for a sale. Those things you listed are the issues I read about in old threads. That said I do like the idea of being able to use the docks/non electric parts of the route. I would buy it now if it meant I could use the others on those services but since that’s not the case I’ll wait for price drops.
I think that’s the right course of action if you do want access to the docks, which are modelled quite nicely, so I understand your reasoning. As long as you’re only doing the shunting services within the docks, the physics aren’t that bad since you’re only crawling along at 10 km/h. The services between Aschaffenburg Hbf and the docks will clearly showcase the incorrect physics, however. That being said, I do have to hand it to Rivet for the 3D model, which is excellent. With a heavy discount, it might be worth it for the docks and the eye candy.
The wise choice \o/ The '204' is now some main line services substitution loco, in some routes, eg HMA, so it add some variety, but the loco itself is not as good as outstanding '363' and glorious 'G6'. Have fun \o/
Go for RRO G6 then run Tharandter Rampe Dresden Chemnitz where you can max it out if applicable to do so.
Keep in mind that 204 and 363 has some bugs. "start second locomotive engines" will crash the game. Overloading the brakes of the 363 will cause them to lock in full application. 363 and G6 are both lovely once you befriend them though!
