    Hey guys!

I've created a comprehensive signal guide for Train Sim World: Long Island Rail Road! I thoroughly explain and dissect all the signal aspects that you'll see in the route, how to interpret the cab signal indicator, and how to operate the train in response to the signal you receive.

This guide should be everything you need you learn how the Long Island Rail Road does their signaling in this area. I hope you're able to learn a great deal and that this enhances your overall experience in the simulator!

You can view some sample images below and download the full PDF if you wish.

Let me know if you have any questions,
    Brandon

CHANGE #1 (11/18/2018) - Replaced the signal photos for Advance Approach. It was incorrectly using the photo for another signal.

    Hi Brandon,
Thank you for this very comprehensive explanation of the signalling system on the LIRR. I intend to study the document carefully before the release of LIRR. Thanks again for taking the time to produce this aid.

Thank you. While waiting for the arrival of the route, it is a good idea to read this guide and thus the wait is shorter.

It certainly made the first drive to not be a constant emergency application. ;)

I just want to add my thanks for you taking the time to provide this guide -- I too felt pretty good on PRR and Amtrak signals, but the LIRR was proving a bit frustrating, now after reading your guide I understand the system better and having a fun time with the DLC

Thanks for putting this guide together and all the work you put into it.
It really gives me a better idea and understanding about the signals in LIRR and how to react to them. Good work.

Thank you for sharing. I have one question. What does the blinking 15 Mph mean, as oppose to the constant 15 Mph in cab ATC signal?

You are either in de same block with an other train and have to drive on sight, or the ATC does not pickup a signal, which happens in yards and you also have to drive on sight.

In regards to ATC not picking up a signal...if there is an area of track with absolutely no signal current flowing through it, the fail-safe behavior of ATC automatically sets cab signal to Restricting (or 15 flashing in this case)

Thanks Cactus. I did a service on LIRR the other night, and found it most frustrating. I'll read your guide a few more times, and hopefully I'll understand what's going on a bit better next time.

I don't see how it would have corrupted since I haven't changed anything about the attachment.

It could be something to do with my laptop seeing as I'm not using my gaming PC. It shouldn't be but you never know.

Another quick addendum on the cab lamp section that I don't see. If you are travelling in ATC dark territory (non-blocking section) as is on the Hempstead Branch, the cab lamp will display a flashing 15. So, you must proceed at restricted speed, even if you have a clear signal. In this situation, the NO XPDR light will also illuminate if ATC is cut-in, indicating that ATC has no information on this section of track, Excellent guide though.
