"Snow in Miami?! You gotta be kidding!" But, on January 19, 1977, it did snow in Miami from around 8 to 9 AM. Seen here at the relatively new Amtrak station is the Silver Meteor, preparing for its 9:55 AM departure for points north. It also appears that some snow has already accumulated on the SDP40F locomotives hauling the train. Route: Miami - West Palm Beach Loco: EMD SDP40F
Route: West Rhine Koln-Koblenz. Train: DB BR 151. You dont see an 151 every day! Especially on this line and during the winter. Only 19 of them remain with DB. (This is the 151 from Hamburg- Hannover) Shot: 18th December 2005 at Andernach.
Route: B&O Mountain Subdivision Locomotive: A.T.&N. Consolidation Steam had all but vanished by the mid-1960s in the United States, but if one knew where to look, especially in the South, a steam powered mixed train could still be found. Chessie System has taken over on the mainline, but an elderly steam locomotive still leads the trains on this weedy short line, complete with ancient coaches on the rear: a real steam powered mixed train - in 1971, you don't see that every day. Within a few short years the last mixed train would cease operations (1973) and the rails seen here will have been lifted (1975). I hope everyone enjoys this attempt of mine at North American stock. In October 2020 the sole BR Class 89 was pulled from Barrow Hill to the Birmingham Soho Depot for 25kV testing as part of its restoration programme. Class 89 & Class 66 on the Midland Main Line: Sheffield - Derby route.
