Amen to that. I'd rather a short route where you're stopping every few minutes, with the occasional longer jaunt between stations, than some of the longer routes where you've got 15+ mins between every stop and services are getting on for a couple of hours end-to-end.

Looks interesting, but I will have to wait for a nice discount.

I see a few people taking issue with length here, but this route is end to end for the star of the show, and that’s what counts.

For me it doesn’t matter if it’s 40km or 185km, If it’s not an end to end run then it just kills the experience for me.

I could quite happily see myself running the 110 & NWagen Cab Car back and forth (and I really do not like cab cars). It was the same for BML, I don’t necessarily like Electrostars, but that route is one of my most played purely because of the satisfaction of actually completing a real service.

This route will add the experience that is what I look for in simulation.

Just get the Add on Manager out for PS5 DTG.

Sam once said: "Go fishing where the fish are!" It seems that there are a lot of German rail fan fishes to catch for DTG. Of course other countries would mean more variety in TSW, but the fishing nets would probably be emptier. Unless you have the right bait to attract them.

I really like the end to end aspect of it. I think the gameplay will be good.

It's the same 425 we've had before but has been updated with a new livery and lzb functionality

I’m curious if any of the new equipment here will layer on to the other routes with new entries on the timetables

I agree with most things you've said. You mean lighting system lol. Even though it's an improvement, still got lots of issues and many people actually like the old lighting better lol. While I like the improvements, there's still work to be done and I'll still commend dtg for continuing to bring new features to the game.

The 155 I could see doing the usual freight substitute, the 110, however, I don't think we have any route where it could go. Haven't been there for quite some years, but are the parked ones at Aachen Rothe Erde still there?

Yup, not a layer. The 110, nwagen, 425 and the 155 are all part of the base package

I’m hearing this 40km route is being sold for £30, €35, $39 is this true if so isn’t that a bit overpriced?

You don't buy this for a route
You buy it for the rolling stock

I'd actually love to see some substitution mods for the BR110 standalone and the consist with the n-Wagen. The 110 could substitude for virtually anything. I'd even love to see it in front of dostos. And with the n-Wagen it could substitute for many RB or S-Bahn services. Hopefully someones will make a mod for that.

All right! This one better be good or else! This place is very near to my heart. My granddad worked for the Bundebahn as inspector for the electrics in Bremen and some of my best childhood memories are from the Bremen Hbf. I've sat at the window in his workshop, looking down to the trains, wondering where they are going, watching him working, going into the big transformator rooms, hearing the sound of really high electricity and beeing really proud of my granddad, who is becoming 92 this december.

And also getting some free train rides :D

So, I'm HYPED! Please let this one be good!

Well in the Roadmap update of november, DTG announced that Union Workshop was added to the partner programme because of their expertise on east-asian railways. So maybe in the future we get the first Asian route for TSW.

The A.I passengers still stand on the tracks.
The mountains don't have enough trees.
The pringles machine not red enough.
The stop marker to close to the stop line.
The collectable behind a invisible wall.
The traffic driving around on there roofs (wheels up).
The track ballasts the wrong color.

Not likely. First, layers have to be built into a route's timetable when it's made, and it's not usual for a route to include invisible placeholder schedules for trains that haven't been built yet*. Sometimes layers might get added to a route if it gets an overhaul. Second, there are no places in Germany today where the 110 runs in regular service, and there are bloody few n-Wagen left; this route is set a dozen years before the extant DB routes.

*One exception, apparently, is the Acela layer built into Boston-Providence; but everybody knew that train would be coming.

The 110 and its "sibling" the 112 (west) were ubiquitous from the 70s to the 00s in Germany. They were used for fast trains (D-Zug), the 112 even for Trans Europ Express services. The 110 was famous in its dark blue and later ocean blue/cream liveries, before being resprayed to the new red color scheme. The 110 then went into regional and local services. I think everyone who grew up in Germany during that time knows them.

If a service is about 45mins - 1 hour long does that matter if it's 44km route or or a 185km route? For me I'm happier with a shorter route with 4 either new or upgraded cabs to drive included in the route as standard.

Then we've got Ice 1, BR101 services AND even BR612 services layered in. (Although I'm not convinced about if the later ever ran this route ever??). That is a ton of new gameplay and a new freight wagon to boot.

For me this i is going to offer far more longevity than SKW despite being a fraction of the length.

    Sometimes less is more.

The fact this route is a ‘short’ route doesn’t bother me whatsoever. East Coastway is a short route, but still remains one of the best quality routes in the game. The fact this is end to end is good news and the fact it comes with so much rolling stock is also good news. I just hope there aren’t obvious issues - that’s the biggest turn off. I don’t ever want to be worrying mid-session whether I can finish and can finish with a gold medal (if earned).

So called for their UIC code of "n"-
n Local train passenger coach (Nahverkehrswagen) with a length of more than 24.5 metres, open coach with centre aisle in 2nd class (12 notional compartments), centre aisle or side corridor in 1st class, two centre doors, suitable for push-pull operations (36-pole control cable)
They are sometimes called Silberlinge (silver pieces) because when they were new they were bare stainless steel.
    _________________________________
Although the y-Wagen are awfully similar, differing chiefly in having a 34-pin cable and so not compatible

Route length should always be appropriate not long or short, you wouldn’t want an ICE1 route 8miles long or similarly I personally wouldn’t find SKW any fun if the speed was 25mph or as many stops as the bakerloo line stretched along it.

If this is what length works and has good service types then in my opinion it’s a good length.

    just my thoughts

also for a bit more length on this route will eat into time before the next route gets started/finished, not too mention potentially financial changes due to extra time.

it’s not the same but I would always take an 8mile IOW route as better value over 100 miles of nothing but straight track

The BR 612 replaces the BR 648 from Nordwestbahn between Bremen and Delmenhorst.

Well I guess it's longer than Luzern to Sursee or the Isle of Wight, but then those were both built by a third party still finding their way (proof of concept if you will), whereas this presumably is built by DTG's accomplished specialist German team. And IOW, both the old and new versions, retailed for a little under the (then) standard price for a DLC.

However I will accept that a shorter route can be fun as is the case with IOW and this certainly seems to offer a completely different level of depth in terms of rolling stock than Sursee. Just a shame as with several other past projects from all three main countries, that they didn't go the extra mile - well, 30km - and include a bit more.

I have fond memories of them on the local services along the Rhine - the jolt as they notched up, the multicoloured n-Wagen formations you used to get in the late 90s.

If you're on the bridge and stop, then the boat will come up and wait until you clear the bridge. It's all linked into the signaling system. The animation on the bridge is pretty cool, audio too. Top marks Lukas :)

The 425 is an improvement on the old one in a few ways, it's had some physics adjustments and it also has the name badges unique to the area on it as well. You do not need to own HRR for the 425.

The 110 and n-Wagen setup and audio were worked on by TSG (thank you Maik!).

The "loco hauled without a cab car" i believe refers to one of the scenarios. All the services i've played so far have had cab cars :)

If you're a UK train fan, and are looking forward to the day that a Class 86 or Class 87 appears, you should try the n-Wagen cab car - its controlled in much the same way, not like the BR 110 on the other end - so some nice variety in control styles between the two.

Lukas works for Dovetail these days, in case you weren't aware, so you should consider his involvement a key part in ALL German projects going forwards.

    Matt.
